دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) وَ عَلَيَّ جُبَّةُ خَزٍّ وَ طَيْلَسَانُ خَزٍّ فَنَظَرَ إِلَيَّ فَقُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ عَلَيَّ جُبَّةُ خَزٍّ وَ طَيْلَسَانُ خَزٍّ فَمَا تَقُولُ فِيهِ فَقَالَ وَ مَا بَأْسٌ بِالْخَزِّ قُلْتُ وَ سَدَاهُ إِبْرِيسَمٌ قَالَ وَ مَا بَأْسٌ بِإِبْرِيسَمٍ فَقَدْ أُصِيبَ الْحُسَيْنُ ( عليه السلام ) وَ عَلَيْهِ جُبَّةُ خَزٍّ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ لَمَّا بَعَثَهُ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( عليه السلام ) إِلَى الْخَوَارِجِ فَوَاقَفَهُمْ لَبِسَ أَفْضَلَ ثِيَابِهِ وَ تَطَيَّبَ بِأَفْضَلِ طِيبِهِ وَ رَكِبَ أَفْضَلَ مَرَاكِبِهِ فَخَرَجَ فَوَاقَفَهُمْ فَقَالُوا يَا ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ بَيْنَا أَنْتَ أَفْضَلُ النَّاسِ إِذَا أَتَيْتَنَا فِي لِبَاسِ الْجَبَابِرَةِ وَ مَرَاكِبِهِمْ فَتَلَا عَلَيْهِمْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ قُلْ مَنْ حَرَّمَ زِينَةَ اللَّهِ الَّتِي أَخْرَجَ لِعِبادِهِ وَ الطَّيِّباتِ مِنَ الرِّزْقِ فَالْبَسْ وَ تَجَمَّلْ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ جَمِيلٌ يُحِبُّ الْجَمَالَ وَ لْيَكُنْ مِنْ حَلَالٍ .

میں ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام کے پاس گیا جبکہ میرے اوپر خز کا جبہ اور خز کا طیلسان تھا۔ آپ نے میری طرف دیکھا تو میں نے کہا: جعلت فداک! میرے اوپر خز کا جبہ اور خز کا طیلسان ہے، آپ کیا فرماتے ہیں؟ آپ نے فرمایا: خز میں کیا حرج ہے؟ میں نے کہا: اس کا تانا ابریسم ہے۔ آپ نے فرمایا: ابریسم میں کیا حرج ہے؟ حسین علیہ السلام شہید کیے گئے جبکہ ان پر خز کا جبہ تھا۔ پھر آپ نے فرمایا: جب امیر المؤمنین علیہ السلام نے عبد اللہ بن عباس کو خوارج کے پاس ان سے مقابلہ کرنے بھیجا تو اس نے اپنا بہترین لباس پہنا، بہترین خوشبو لگائی اور بہترین سواری پر سوار ہوا۔ وہ گیا اور ان کے سامنے آیا تو انہوں نے کہا: اے ابن عباس! تم لوگوں میں سب سے افضل ہو لیکن جابروں کے لباس اور سواری میں ہمارے پاس آئے! تو اس نے انہیں یہ آیت پڑھی: «کہو کس نے اللہ کی اس زینت کو جو اس نے اپنے بندوں کے لیے نکالی اور پاکیزہ رزق کو حرام کیا؟» پس پہنو اور بناؤ سنگار کرو، کیونکہ اللہ جمیل ہے اور جمال کو پسند کرتا ہے — لیکن حلال سے ہونا چاہیے۔
Translation
A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Muhammad Bin Isa, from Safwan, from Yusuf Bin Ibrahim who said, ‘I went over to Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> and upon me was <span class="iTxt">Al-Khazz</span> coat and a <span class="iTxt">Al-Khazz </span>pallium. So he<sup>asws</sup> looked at me, so I said, ‘May I be sacrificed for you<sup>asws</sup>! Upon me is an <span class="iTxt">Al Khazz</span> coat and an <span class="iTxt">Al Khazz</span> pallium, so what are you<sup>asws</sup> saying with regards to it?’ So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘And what is the problem with <span class="iTxt">Al-Khazz</span>?’ I said, ‘And its wrapping is embroidered’. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘And there is no problem with embroidery, for Al-Husayn<sup>asws</sup> was hit and upon him was an <span class="iTxt">Al-Khazz</span> coat’. Then he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Abdullah Bin Abbas, when Amir Al-Momineen<sup>asws</sup> sent him to the Khawarijites, so he paused to them wearing the best of his clothes, and perfumed himself with the best of his perfumes, and rode the best of his rides. So he went and paused to them. So they said, ‘O Ibn Abbas! Between us, you are the best of the people, but you have come to us in the clothes of the tyrants and their rides’. So he recited to them this Verse <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:7#h32"><a href="/books/quran:7#h32">[7:32]</a></a> Say: Who has prohibited the adornments of Allah which He has Brought forth for His servants and the good provisions?</span> Therefore, wear (nice clothes) and beautify, for Allah<sup>azwj</sup> is Beautiful, He<sup>azwj</sup> Loves the beauty, but it should be from the Permissibles (means)’.
