ہمارے بعض اصحاب نے احمد بن محمد سے، انہوں نے محمد بن سنان سے، انہوں نے ابان بن تغلب سے، انہوں نے ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام سے روایت کی، جنہوں نے فرمایا: بے شک جابر بن عبد اللہ انصاری رسول اللہ صلى الله عليه وآله کے اصحاب میں سے باقی رہ جانے والوں میں آخری تھے، اور وہ ہم اہلِ بیت سے گہری وابستگی رکھنے والے شخص تھے۔ وہ رسول اللہ صلى الله عليه وآله کی مسجد میں سیاہ عمامہ لپیٹے بیٹھتے اور پکار کر کہتے: “اے علم کو چاک کرنے والے، اے علم کو چاک کرنے والے!” مدینہ کے لوگ کہا کرتے تھے: “جابر ہذیان بکتا ہے۔” مگر وہ کہتے: “نہیں، اللہ کی قسم، میں ہذیان نہیں بکتا۔ بلکہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلى الله عليه وآله کو یہ فرماتے سنا: ‘تم مجھ سے ایک ایسے شخص سے ملو گے جس کا نام میرا نام ہوگا اور جس کی صفات میری صفات ہوں گی؛ وہ علم کو پوری طرح چاک کر دے گا۔’ یہی وہ بات ہے جس نے مجھے یہ کہنے پر آمادہ کیا ہے۔” اس نے کہا: ایک دن جابر مدینہ کی بعض گلیوں میں چل رہا تھا کہ وہ ایک راستے سے گزرا جہاں ایک مکتب تھا اور اس میں محمد بن علی موجود تھے۔ جب اس نے انہیں دیکھا تو کہا: “اے لڑکے، آگے آؤ۔” تو وہ آگے آئے۔ پھر اس نے کہا: “پیچھے ہٹو۔” تو وہ پیچھے ہٹ گئے۔ پھر اس نے کہا: “یہ رسول اللہ صلى الله عليه وآله کی صفات ہیں۔ اس ذات کی قسم جس کے ہاتھ میں میری جان ہے، اے لڑکے، تمہارا نام کیا ہے؟” انہوں نے کہا: “میرا نام محمد بن علی بن الحسین ہے۔” پھر وہ ان کی طرف متوجہ ہوا، ان کا سر چومتے ہوئے کہنے لگا: “میرے ماں باپ آپ پر قربان ہوں؛ آپ کے جدِّ امجد رسول اللہ صلى الله عليه وآله آپ کو سلام پہنچاتے ہیں اور یہی فرماتے ہیں۔” پھر محمد بن علی بن الحسین اپنے والد کے پاس گھبراہٹ کی حالت میں واپس آئے اور انہیں یہ واقعہ بتایا۔ انہوں نے ان سے فرمایا: "میرے بیٹے، کیا جابر نے یہ کیا ہے؟" انہوں نے کہا: "جی ہاں۔" انہوں نے فرمایا: "میرے بیٹے، اپنے گھر میں رہو۔" اس کے بعد جابر دن کے دونوں کناروں پر ان کے پاس آتے رہے، اور اہلِ مدینہ کہتے تھے: "جابر پر کتنی حیرت ہے! وہ دن کے دونوں کناروں پر اس لڑکے کے پاس آتے ہیں، حالانکہ وہ رسول اللہ صلى الله عليه وآله کے صحابہ میں سے آخری باقی رہنے والے ہیں۔" زیادہ دیر نہ گزری کہ علی بن الحسین علیہ السلام وفات پا گئے۔ پھر محمد بن علی، رسول اللہ صلى الله عليه وآله کی صحبت کے احترام میں، ان کے پاس آتے رہے۔ انہوں نے فرمایا: پھر وہ علیہ السلام بیٹھ گئے اور اللہ تبارک و تعالیٰ کے بارے میں ان سے حدیث بیان کرنے لگے، تو اہلِ مدینہ نے کہا: "ہم نے اس سے زیادہ جری کسی کو نہیں دیکھا۔" جب انہوں نے ان کی بات سنی تو انہوں نے رسول اللہ صلى الله عليه وآله سے حدیث بیان کی، تو اہلِ مدینہ نے کہا: "ہم نے اس سے زیادہ جھوٹا کبھی کسی کو نہیں دیکھا، جو ہمیں اس شخص سے روایت کرتا ہے جسے اس نے دیکھا ہی نہیں۔" جب انہوں نے ان کی بات سنی تو انہوں نے جابر بن عبد اللہ سے حدیث بیان کی۔ پھر انہوں نے ان کی تصدیق کی، اور جابر بن عبد اللہ ان کے پاس آتے اور ان سے علم حاصل کرتے تھے۔

Translation

A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Muhammad Bin Sinan, from Aban Bin Taghlub, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah^asws having said: ‘Jabir Bin Abdullah Al-Ansary was the last ones to remain, from the companions of Rasool-Allah^saww, and he was a man who had cut himself off to us^asws, the People^asws of the Household, and he was sitting in the Masjid of Rasool-Allah^saww, and he was turbaned with a black turban, and he was calling out, ‘يَا بَاقِرَ الْعِلْمِ يَا بَاقِرَ الْعِلْم’ ‘O expounder of the knowledge! O expounder of the knowledge! And it was so that the people of Al-Medina were saying, ‘Jabir is hallucinating’. So he was saying, ‘No, by Allah^azwj! I am not hallucinating. But, I heard Rasool-Allah^saww saying: ‘You (Jabir) would be coming across a man from me^saww, his^asws name would be my^saww name, and his^asws mannerisms would be my^saww mannerisms. He^asws would expound the knowledge with an expansion’. So that is what is calling me to what I am saying’. He^asws said: ‘So while Jabir was walking around one day in one of the streets of Al-Median, when some scribes passed by in that street, among whom was Muhammad^asws Bin Ali^asws. So when he looked at him^asws, he said, ‘O boy^asws! Come!’ So, he^asws came. Then he said, ‘By Allah^azwj! The mannerisms of Rasool-Allah^saww, by the One^azwj in Whose Hand is my soul! O boy^asws! What is your^asws name?’ He^asws said: ‘My^asws name is Muhammad^asws Bin Ali^asws Bin Al-Husayn^asws’. So he went faced him^asws, and kissed his^asws head and he was saying, ‘By my father and my mother be (sacrificed) for you^asws! Your^asws father Rasool-Allah^saww conveys the greetings to you^asws and he^saww was saying (all) that’. He^asws said: ‘So Muhammad^asws Bin Ali^asws Bin Al-Husayn^asws returned to his^asws father^asws, and he^asws was alarmed, <span style="text-decoration: line-through">So,</span> he^asws informed him^asws of the news. So, he^asws said to him^asws: ‘O my^asws son^asws, and Jabir did it?’ He^asws said: ‘Yes’. He^asws said: ‘Necessitated your^asws house (stay at home), O my^asws son!’ So Jabir used to come to him^asws at both ends of the day, and the people of Al-Medina were saying, ‘O how strange of Jabir to come to this boy^asws at both ends of the day, and he is the last one to remain from the companions of Rasool-Allah^saww’. It was not long before Ali^asws Bin Al-Husayn^asws passed away (martyred), and Muhammad^asws Bin Ali^asws used to go to him (Jabir Bin Abdullah) upon the aspect of the honour of his companionship to Rasool-Allah^saww. He^asws would sit and narrate to them (directly) from Allah^azwj Blessed and High. The people of Al-Medina would say, ‘We have not seen anyone so audacious than this one’. When he^asws saw what they were saying, he^asws narrated to them (directly) from Rasool-Allah^saww. So, the people of Al-Medina said, ‘We have not seen anyone at all more lying than this one (Nouzobillah), narrating to us from the one^saww he^asws has not even seen. When he^asws saw what they were saying, he^asws narrated to them from Jabir Bin Abdullah. (In that way) they ratified him^asws, and it was so that Jabir Bin Abdullah used to come to him^asws, to learn from him^asws’.
