كُنْتُ مَعَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) فِيمَا بَيْنَ مَكَّةَ وَ الْمَدِينَةِ إِذَا الْتَفَتَ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ فَإِذَا كَلْبٌ أَسْوَدُ بَهِيمٌ فَقَالَ مَا لَكَ قَبَّحَكَ اللَّهُ مَا أَشَدَّ مُسَارَعَتَكَ وَ إِذَا هُوَ شَبِيهٌ بِالطَّائِرِ فَقُلْتُ مَا هَذَا جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ فَقَالَ هَذَا غُثَيْمٌ بَرِيدُ الْجِنِّ مَاتَ هِشَامٌ السَّاعَةَ وَ هُوَ يَطِيرُ يَنْعَاهُ فِي كُلِّ بَلْدَةٍ .
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Muhammad Bin Al Husayn, from Muhammad Bin Ismail, from Ali Bin Al Hakam, from Maalik Bin Atiyya, from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly who said, ‘I was with Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> in what is between Makkah and Al-Medina, when he<sup>asws</sup> turned to his<sup>asws</sup> left, so there was an entirely black dog. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘What is the matter with you? Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Made you ugly, how fiercely you rush! and it was the resemblance of a bird’. So I said, ‘What is this? May I be sacrificed for you<sup>asws</sup>’. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘This is Gusaym, a postman of the Jinn. Hisham died at this time, and he (turned himself into) a bird notifying it in every city’.
