John Shaqi

قَالَ إِنَّ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) مَاتَ وَ تَرَكَ سِتِّينَ غُلَاماً فَأَعْتَقَ ثُلُثَهُمْ فَأَقْرَعْتُ بَيْنَهُمْ فَأَخْرَجْتُ عِشْرِينَ فَأَعْتَقْتُهُمْ .


Translation

Humayd Bin Ziyad, from Al Hassan Bin Muhammad Bin Sama’at, from Ja’far Bin Sama’at, and someone else, from Aban, from Muhammad Bin Marwan, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘Abu Ja’far<sup>asws</sup> passed away and left (as legacy) sixty slaves, so he<sup>asws</sup> emancipated (freed) a third of them. So I<sup>asws</sup> drew lots between them, so I<sup>asws</sup> brought out twenty and freed them’.
