Translation

Al Husayn Bin Muhammad, from Moala Bin Muhammad, from Al hassan Bin Ali, from Hammad Bin Usman who said, ‘I said to Abu Abdullah^asws, ‘How much is the reprimand?’ So he^asws said: ‘Less than the Penalty (<span class="iTxt">Hadd</span>)’. I said, ‘Less than eighty (lashes)?’ So he^asws said: ‘No, but it is less than the forty (lashes), for it is a Penalty (<span class="iTxt">Hadd</span>) of the owned (slaves)’. I said, ‘And how much is that?’ He^asws said: ‘Upon the measurement of what the guardian sees fit from a sin of the man, and strength of his body’.
