سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ شُهُودِ الزُّورِ قَالَ فَقَالَ يُجْلَدُونَ حَدّاً لَيْسَ لَهُ وَقْتٌ وَ ذَلِكَ إِلَى الْإِمَامِ وَ يُطَافُ بِهِمْ حَتَّى يَعْرِفَهُمُ النَّاسُ وَ أَمَّا قَوْلُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ لا تَقْبَلُوا لَهُمْ شَهادَةً أَبَداً... إِلَّا الَّذِينَ تابُوا قَالَ قُلْتُ كَيْفَ تُعْرَفُ تَوْبَتُهُ قَالَ يُكْذِبُ نَفْسَهُ عَلَى رُءُوسِ النَّاسِ حَتَّى يُضْرَبَ وَ يَسْتَغْفِرَ رَبَّهُ وَ إِذَا فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ فَقَدْ ظَهَرَتْ تَوْبَتُهُ .
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from Muhammad Bin Isa, from Yunus, from Zurara, from Sama’at who said, ‘I asked him<sup>asws</sup> about false testifiers’. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘They would be whipped the Penalty (<span class="iTxt">Hadd</span>). There is not (fixed) time for it, and that is upon the Imam<sup>asws</sup>, and they would be paraded with until the the people recognise them’. And as for the Words of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:24#h4"><a href="/books/quran:24#h4">[24:4]</a></a> and do not accept any testimony from them ever . . . . <a href="/#/books/quran:24#h5"><a href="/books/quran:24#h5">[24:5]</a></a> Except those who repent</span>, I said, ‘How is their repentance recognised?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘He would belie himself (confess) to the chiefs of the people until he is whipped, and he would seek Forgiveness of his Lord<sup>azwj</sup>’. And when he does that, so his repentance would have been manifested’.
