علی بن ابراہیم نے مجھ سے روایت کی، اپنے والد سے، ابن ابی عمیر سے، علی بن عقبہ سے، ابو خالد القمّاط سے، حمران سے جنہوں نے کہا: میں نے ابو جعفر علیہ السلام سے کہا: اللہ عزّ و جلّ کے اس قول کا کیا معنی ہے: 'اس وجہ سے ہم نے بنی اسرائیل پر یہ لکھ دیا کہ جو کوئی کسی نفس کو بغیر کسی نفس کے بدلے یا زمین میں فساد پھیلانے کے بغیر قتل کرے تو گویا اس نے تمام لوگوں کو قتل کر دیا' اس نے کہا: میں نے کہا: 'اور کیسے گویا اس نے تمام لوگوں کو قتل کر دیا، حالانکہ اس نے صرف ایک کو قتل کیا؟' آپ نے فرمایا: 'اسے جہنم کے ایک ایسے مقام میں رکھا جائے گا جہاں اس کے باشندوں کا انتہائی شدید عذاب پہنچتا ہے — اگر وہ تمام لوگوں کو بھی قتل کر دیتا تو وہ اسی مقام میں داخل ہوتا۔' میں نے کہا: 'اگر وہ کسی اور کو بھی قتل کرے؟' آپ نے فرمایا: 'اس پر دوگنا کر دیا جائے گا۔'

Translation

Ali BIin Ibrahim narrated to me, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Ali Bin Uqba, from Abu Khalid Al Qammat, from Humran who said, ‘I said to Abu Abdullah^asws, ‘What is the Meaning of the Words of Allah^azwj Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:5#h32"><a href="/books/quran:5#h32">[5:32]</a></a> For this reason did We Prescribe to the Children of Israel that whoever slays a soul, unless it be for manslaughter or for mischief in the land, it is as though he slew all the people</span>. I said, ‘And how come it is as if he has killed all the people, for he has (only) killed one?’ So he^asws said: ‘He would be placed in a place of Hell where the harshest of Punishments would end up to be upon its inhabitants, had he killed the people altogether. But rather, he would enter that place’. I said, ‘So if he were to kill another one?’ He^asws said: ‘It would be doubled upon him’.
