إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى أَوْحَى إِلَى عِمْرَانَ أَنِّي وَاهِبٌ لَكَ ذَكَراً سَوِيّاً مُبَارَكاً يُبْرِئُ الْأَكْمَهَ وَ الْأَبْرَصَ وَ يُحْيِي الْمَوْتَى بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ وَ جَاعِلُهُ رَسُولًا إِلَى بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ فَحَدَّثَ عِمْرَانُ امْرَأَتَهُ حَنَّةَ بِذَلِكَ وَ هِيَ أُمُّ مَرْيَمَ فَلَمَّا حَمَلَتْ كَانَ حَمْلُهَا بِهَا عِنْدَ نَفْسِهَا غُلَامٌ فَلَمَّا وَضَعَتْها قالَتْ رَبِّ إِنِّي وَضَعْتُها أُنْثى... وَ لَيْسَ الذَّكَرُ كَالْأُنْثى أَيْ لَا يَكُونُ الْبِنْتُ رَسُولًا يَقُولُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِما وَضَعَتْ فَلَمَّا وَهَبَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى لِمَرْيَمَ عِيسَى كَانَ هُوَ الَّذِي بَشَّرَ بِهِ عِمْرَانَ وَ وَعَدَهُ إِيَّاهُ فَإِذَا قُلْنَا فِي الرَّجُلِ مِنَّا شَيْئاً وَ كَانَ فِي وَلَدِهِ أَوْ وَلَدِ وَلَدِهِ فَلَا تُنْكِرُوا ذَلِكَ .

محمد بن یحیی، احمد بن محمد اور علی بن ابراہیم سے، وہ اپنے والد سے، سب کے سب ابن محبوب سے، ابن ریاب سے، ابو بصیر سے، ابو عبداللہ علیہ السلام سے روایت کرتے ہیں، جنہوں نے فرمایا: بے شک اللہ، بلند و برتر، نے عمران کی طرف وحی کی: “میں تمہیں ایک تندرست، بابرکت لڑکا عطا کر رہا ہوں جو اندھے اور کوڑھی کو شفا دے گا، اور اللہ کے اذن سے مردوں کو زندہ کرے گا، اور میں اسے بنی اسرائیل کی طرف رسول بناؤں گا۔” پس ʿعمران نے یہ بات اپنی بیوی Ḥannah کو بتائی، اور وہ مریم کی ماں تھیں۔ پھر جب وہ حاملہ ہوئیں تو اپنے خیال میں انہوں نے سمجھا کہ ان کا حمل لڑکا ہے۔ پھر جب اس نے اسے جنم دیا تو اس نے کہا: “اے میرے رب، بے شک میں نے اسے ایک لڑکی جنا ہے۔” “اور مرد عورت کی طرح نہیں ہے” — یعنی: بیٹی رسول نہیں ہو سکتی۔ اللہ، جو غالب اور بزرگ ہے، فرماتا ہے: “اور اللہ بہتر جانتا تھا جو اس نے جنا تھا۔” پس جب اللہ، بلند و برتر، نے مریم کو عیسیٰ عطا فرمایا تو وہی وہ تھے جن کی بشارت عمران کو دی گئی تھی اور جن کا وعدہ ان سے کیا گیا تھا۔ لہٰذا جب ہم اپنے میں سے کسی مرد کے بارے میں کچھ کہتے ہیں، اور وہ اس کے بیٹے یا اس کے بیٹے کے بیٹے میں ظاہر ہو جائے، تو اس کا انکار نہ کرو۔
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad and Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, altogether from Ibn Mahboub, from Riab, from Abu Baseer, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘Allah<sup>azwj</sup> the Exalted Revealed unto Imran<sup>as</sup>: “I<sup>azwj</sup> shall Grant to you<sup>as</sup> a male (son), perfect, Blessed. He<sup>as</sup> will cure the blindness and leprosy, and he<sup>as</sup> will revive the dead by the Permission of Allah<sup>azwj</sup>, and I<sup>azwj</sup> shall Make him<sup>as</sup> a Rasool<sup>as</sup> to the Children of Israel”. So Imran<sup>as</sup> narrated it to his<sup>as</sup> wife Hanna with that, and she is the mother of Maryam<sup>as</sup>. So when she was expecting, it was so that within herself she thought it was a boy. <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:3#h36"><a href="/books/quran:3#h36">[3:36]</a></a> So when she gave birth to it, she said: My Lord! Surely I have brought it forth a female . . . . and the male is not like the female</span>’, i.e., a daughter cannot happen to be a Rasool<sup>as</sup>. Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic Said <span class="ibTxt">and Allah was more Knowing of what she gave birth to</span><span class="bTxt">.</span> So when Allah<sup>azwj</sup> the Exalted Granted Isa<sup>as</sup> to Maryam<sup>as</sup>, it was so that he<sup>as</sup> was the one Imran<sup>as</sup> had been Given glad tidings with, and Promised to him<sup>as</sup>. So when we<sup>asws</sup> say something regarding the man<sup>asws</sup> from us<sup>asws</sup>, and it happens to be in his<sup>asws</sup> son, or a son of his<sup>asws</sup> son, so do not be denying that’.
