سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فَمَنْ تَصَدَّقَ بِهِ فَهُوَ كَفَّارَةٌ لَهُ فَقَالَ يُكَفَّرُ عَنْهُ مِنْ ذُنُوبِهِ بِقَدْرِ مَا عَفَا وَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فَمَنْ عُفِيَ لَهُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ شَيْءٌ فَاتِّباعٌ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَ أَداءٌ إِلَيْهِ بِإِحْسانٍ قَالَ يَنْبَغِي لِلَّذِي لَهُ الْحَقُّ أَنْ لَا يَعْسُرَ أَخَاهُ إِذَا كَانَ قَدْ صَالَحَهُ عَلَى دِيَةٍ وَ يَنْبَغِي لِلَّذِي عَلَيْهِ الْحَقُّ أَنْ لَا يَمْطُلَ أَخَاهُ إِذَا قَدَرَ عَلَى مَا يُعْطِيهِ وَ يُؤَدِّيَ إِلَيْهِ بِإِحْسَانٍ قَالَ وَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فَمَنِ اعْتَدى بَعْدَ ذلِكَ فَلَهُ عَذابٌ أَلِيمٌ فَقَالَ هُوَ الرَّجُلُ يَقْبَلُ الدِّيَةَ أَوْ يَعْفُو أَوْ يُصَالِحُ ثُمَّ يَعْتَدِي فَيَقْتُلُ فَلَهُ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ كَمَا قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ .
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Hammad Bin Usman, from Al Halby, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup>, said, ‘I asked him<sup>asws</sup> about the Words of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:5#h45"><a href="/books/quran:5#h45">[5:45]</a></a> but he who foregoes it, it shall be an expiation for him</span>. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘It would expiate from his sins by the measurement of what he forgave’. And I asked him<sup>asws</sup> about the Words of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:2#h178"><a href="/books/quran:2#h178">[2:178]</a></a> but if any remission is made to any one by his (aggrieved) brother then prosecution (for the blood wit) should be made according to usage, and payment should be made to him in a good manner</span>. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘It is befitting for the one for whom is the right that he should not (financially) constrain his brother when he has reconciled with him upon the wergild, and if it befitting for the one upon whom is the (payable) right that he should not delay his brother when he has the ability upon what he has to be given, and he should pay it to him in a good manner’. He (the narrator) said, ‘And I asked him<sup>asws</sup> about the Words of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:2#h178"><a href="/books/quran:2#h178">[2:178]</a></a> so whoever exceeds the limit after this he shall have a painful Punishment</span>. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘He is the man who accepts the wergild, or forgives, or reconciles, then exceeds, so he kills. Thus, for him is the painful Punishment just as Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic Says’.
