Al-Kafi 14388

Translation

Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ali Bin Al Hakam, from Ali Bin Abu Hamza, from Abu Baseer who said, ‘I asked Abu Abdullah^asws about the Words of Allah^azwj Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:5#h45"><a href="/books/quran:5#h45">[5:45]</a></a> but he who foregoes it, it shall be an ‘</span>كَفَّارَةٌ<span class="ibTxt">’ expiation for him</span>. He^asws said: ‘It would expiate from him his sins by the measurement of whatever he forgives from the injuries or other than it’. He (the narrator) said, ‘And I asked him^asws about the Words of Allah^azwj Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:2#h178"><a href="/books/quran:2#h178">[2:178]</a></a> but if any remission is made to any one by his (aggrieved) brother then prosecution (for the blood wit) should be made according to usage, and payment should be made to him in a good manner</span>’. He^asws said: ‘He is the man who accepts the wergild, so it is befitting for the seeker that he should be kind with it, so he should not (financially) constrain him, and it is befitting for the sought that he should pay to him with the goodly manner and not delay it when (he is) able to do so’.
