اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ لا يَأْبَ الشُّهَداءُ إِذا ما دُعُوا فَقَالَ لَا يَنْبَغِي لِأَحَدٍ إِذَا دُعِيَ إِلَى الشَّهَادَةِ يَشْهَدُ عَلَيْهَا أَنْ يَقُولَ لَا أَشْهَدُ لَكُمْ .

ہمارے اصحاب کی ایک جماعت نے احمد بن ابی عبداللہ سے، انہوں نے عثمان بن عیسیٰ سے، انہوں نے سماعہ سے، انہوں نے ابو عبداللہ علیہ السلام سے اللہ عزوجل کے اس قول کے بارے میں: 'اور گواہوں کو نہ چاہیے کہ جب بلائے جائیں تو انکار کریں' [2:282]۔ پس آپ نے فرمایا: 'کسی کے لیے یہ مناسب نہیں ہے کہ جب اسے اس چیز کی گواہی کے لیے بلایا جائے جس کا وہ گواہ ہو تو وہ کہے: میں تمہارے لیے گواہی نہیں دیتا۔'
Translation
A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Abu Abdullah, from Usman Bin Isa, from Sama’at, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> regarding the Words of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:2#h282"><a href="/books/quran:2#h282">[2:282]</a></a> and the witnesses should not refuse when they are summoned</span>. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘It is not befitting for anyone when he is summoned to testify upon what he had witnessed, that he should be saying, ‘I shall not testify for you all’.
