سَأَلْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَحْضُرُ حِسَابَ الرَّجُلِ فَيَطْلُبَانِ مِنْهُ الشَّهَادَةَ عَلَى مَا سَمِعَ مِنْهُمَا فَقَالَ ذَلِكَ إِلَيْهِ إِنْ شَاءَ شَهِدَ وَ إِنْ شَاءَ لَمْ يَشْهَدْ فَإِنْ شَهِدَ بِحَقٍّ قَدْ سَمِعَهُ وَ إِنْ لَمْ يَشْهَدْ فَلَا شَيْءَ عَلَيْهِ لِأَنَّهُمَا لَمْ يُشْهِدَاهُ .

محمد بن یحیی نے محمد بن حسین سے، انہوں نے محمد بن عبد اللہ بن ہلال سے، انہوں نے علاء بن رزین سے، انہوں نے محمد بن مسلم سے روایت کی، انہوں نے کہا: میں نے ابو جعفر علیہ السلام سے اس آدمی کے بارے میں پوچھا جو ایک آدمی کے حساب کتاب میں موجود ہو، اور وہ دونوں اس سے گواہی طلب کریں اس بارے میں جو اس نے سنا ہو۔ آپ نے فرمایا: یہ اس پر منحصر ہے — اگر چاہے تو گواہی دے اور اگر چاہے تو نہ دے۔ اگر گواہی دے تو جو سنا ہے اس کے مطابق حق ہوگی۔ اور اگر نہ دے تو اس پر کچھ نہیں، کیونکہ ان دونوں نے اسے گواہ نہیں بنایا تھا۔
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Muhammad Bin Al Husayn, from Muhammad Bin Abdullah Bin Hilal, from Al A’ala Bin Razeyn, from Muhammad Bin Muslim who said, ‘I asked Abu Ja’far<sup>asws</sup> about the man who was present at the accounting of the man, so they both sought the testimony from him upon what had heard from them both. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘That is up to him, if he so desires to he testifies, and if he so desires to he does not testify. So if he testifies it would be the truth what he had heard, and if he does not testify, so there is nothing upon him, because the two of them did not make him a witness (beforehand)’.
