قَالَ لِي كَتَمُوا بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ فَنِعْمَ وَ اللَّهِ الْأَسْمَاءُ كَتَمُوهَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ (صلى الله عليه وآله) إِذَا دَخَلَ إِلَى مَنْزِلِهِ وَ اجْتَمَعَتْ عَلَيْهِ قُرَيْشٌ يَجْهَرُ بِبِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ وَ يَرْفَعُ بِهَا صَوْتَهُ فَتُوَلِّي قُرَيْشٌ فِرَاراً فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فِي ذَلِكَ وَ إِذا ذَكَرْتَ رَبَّكَ فِي الْقُرْآنِ وَحْدَهُ وَلَّوْا عَلى أَدْبارِهِمْ نُفُوراً.
Translation
<a id="_Toc492473516">H 14835</a> – Ahmad Bin Muhammad Al-Kufy, from Ali Bin Al-Hassan Bin Ali, from Abdul Rahmaan Bin Abu Najraan, from Haroun, who has said the following: <span class="first-chapter-phrase"><span class="first-in-chapter character-a">A</span>bu Abdullah</span><sup>asws</sup> having said to me: ‘They have concealed ‘بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ’ ‘In the Name of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> the Beneficent, the Merciful’. So, by Allah<sup>azwj</sup>, they have concealed the Best Name. The Rasool Allah<sup>saww</sup>, when he<sup>asws</sup> used to enter his<sup>saww</sup> house, and the Quresyh were gathered against him<sup>saww</sup>, would say loudly ‘بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ’ ‘In the Name of Allah<sup>azwj</sup>, the Beneficent, the Merciful’, and raise his<sup>saww</sup> voice with it. The Qureysh would then flee. So Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic Revealed with regards to that: <span class="ibTxt">“<a href="/#/books/quran:17#h46"><a href="/books/quran:17#h46">[17:46]</a></a> And We have placed coverings on their hearts and a heaviness in their ears lest they understand it, and when you mention your Lord alone in the Quran they turn their backs in aversion”</span>.’
