سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) عَنِ الْإِيمَانِ فَقَالَ شَهَادَةُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَ أَنَّ مُحَمَّداً رَسُولُ اللَّهِ قَالَ قُلْتُ أَ لَيْسَ هَذَا عَمَلٌ قَالَ بَلَى قُلْتُ فَالْعَمَلُ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ قَالَ لَا يَثْبُتُ لَهُ الْإِيمَانُ إِلَّا بِالْعَمَلِ وَ الْعَمَلُ مِنْهُ .
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Jameel Bin Darraj who said, ‘I asked Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> about the <span class="iTxt">Emān</span>, so he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘The testimony that there is no God except for Allah<sup>azwj</sup> and that Muhammad<sup>saww</sup> is Rasool<sup>saww</sup> of Allah<sup>azwj</sup>’. I said, ‘Is this not a deed?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Yes’. I said, ‘So the deed is from the <span class="iTxt">Emān</span>?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘The <span class="iTxt">Emān</span> would not be affirmed for him except with the deed, and the deed is from it’ (the <span class="iTxt">Emān</span>).
