كُنْتُ عِنْدَ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) فَقَالَ لَهُ سَلَّامٌ إِنَّ خَيْثَمَةَ ابْنَ أَبِي خَيْثَمَةَ يُحَدِّثُنَا عَنْكَ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَكَ عَنِ الْإِسْلَامِ فَقُلْتَ لَهُ إِنَّ الْإِسْلَامَ مَنِ اسْتَقْبَلَ قِبْلَتَنَا وَ شَهِدَ شَهَادَتَنَا وَ نَسَكَ نُسُكَنَا وَ وَالَى وَلِيَّنَا وَ عَادَى عَدُوَّنَا فَهُوَ مُسْلِمٌ فَقَالَ صَدَقَ خَيْثَمَةُ قُلْتُ وَ سَأَلَكَ عَنِ الْإِيمَانِ فَقُلْتَ الْإِيمَانُ بِاللَّهِ وَ التَّصْدِيقُ بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ وَ أَنْ لَا يُعْصَى اللَّهُ فَقَالَ صَدَقَ خَيْثَمَةُ .
Translation
From him, from his father, from Al Nazar Bin Suweyd, from Yahya Bin Imran Al Halby, from Ayoub Bin Al Hurr, from Abu Baseer who said, ‘I was in the presence of Abu Ja’far<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>, so Sallam said to him<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>, ‘Khaysama Ibn Abu Khaysama narrated from you<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> that he asked you<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> about Al-<span class="iTxt">Islām</span>. So you<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> said to him: ‘Al-<span class="iTxt">Islām</span> is from the acceptance of our<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> Qiblah, and testify ‘شَهَادَتَنَا’ our<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> testimonies, and performing our<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> rituals, and befriend our<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> friends, and be inimical to our<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> enemies, so (only then) he become a Muslim’. So he<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> said: ‘Khaysama spoke the truth’. I said, ‘And he asked you<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> about the <span class="iTxt">Emān</span>, so you<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> said: ‘The <span class="iTxt">Emān</span> in Allah<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup>, and the ratification with the Book of Allah<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup>, and that he would not disobey Allah<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup>’. So he<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> said: ‘Khaysama spoke the truth’.
