میں نے ابوجعفر علیہ السلام کو لکھا، یا ان سے کہا: اللہ مجھے آپ پر قربان کرے! ہم رحمٰن، رحیم، واحد، احد، صمد کی عبادت کرتے ہیں۔ راوی نے کہا: تو انہوں نے فرمایا: بے شک جس نے اسم کی عبادت کی نہ کہ ان اسماء سے موسوم ذات کی — اس نے شرک کیا، کفر کیا، انکار کیا اور کچھ بھی عبادت نہیں کی۔ بلکہ اللہ واحد، احد، صمد کی عبادت کرو جو ان اسماء سے موسوم ہے، نہ کہ اسماء کی۔ بے شک اسماء صفات ہیں جن سے اس نے اپنی ذات کو موصوف کیا ہے۔

Translation

Ali Bin Ibrahim, from Al Abbas Bin Marouf, from Abdul Rahman Bin Abu Najran who said, ‘I wrote to Abu Ja’far^asws, or said to him^asws, ‘May I be sacrificed for you^asws! We worship the Beneficent, the Merciful, the One, the First, the Last’. So he^asws said: ‘Surely, the one who worships the Name besides the One Named by the Names has associated (committed Shirk), and blasphemed, and denied and did not worship anything. But worship the One, the First, the Last, the Named One by these Names, besides the Names. The Name is an attribute by which He^azwj Describes Himself’.
