ہمارے کئی اصحاب نے احمد بن محمد بن عیسیٰ سے، انہوں نے حسین بن سعید سے، انہوں نے نضر بن سوید سے، انہوں نے قاسم بن سلیمان سے، انہوں نے عبید بن زرارہ سے، انہوں نے اپنے والد سے، انہوں نے ایک آدمی سے روایت کی جس نے کہا: ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام نے فرمایا: 'دعا وہ عبادت ہے جس کے بارے میں اللہ عزوجل نے فرمایا: «بے شک جو لوگ میری عبادت سے تکبر کرتے ہیں» — آیت (۴۰:۶۰)۔ اللہ عزوجل سے دعا کرو اور یہ نہ کہو کہ معاملہ پہلے سے طے ہو چکا ہے۔' زرارہ نے کہا: 'آپ کا مطلب یہ ہے کہ قضا و قدر پر تمہارا ایمان تمہیں دعا میں مبالغہ کرنے اور اس میں کوشش کرنے سے نہیں روکنا چاہیے — یا جیسا آپ نے فرمایا۔'

Translation

A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Al Husayn Bin Saeed, from Al Nazar Bin Suweyd, from Al Qasim Bin Suleyman, from Ubeyd Bin Zurara, from his father, from a man who said, ‘Abu Abdullah^asws said: ‘The supplication, it is the worship which Allah^azwj Mighty and Majestic Spoke of <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:40#h60"><a href="/books/quran:40#h60">[40:60]</a></a> surely those who are too proud to worship Me</span> – the Verse. Supplicate to Allah^azwj Mighty and Majestic and do not say that the matter has already been decided’. Zurara (the narrator) said, ‘But rather, it means that your belief in the Ordainment and the Pre-determination whould not prevent you that you should speak with the supplication and strive in his, or just as he<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> said’.
