لَمَّا طَرَحَ إِخْوَةُ يُوسُفَ يُوسُفَ فِي الْجُبِّ أَتَاهُ جَبْرَئِيلُ ( عليه السلام ) فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ يَا غُلَامُ مَا تَصْنَعُ هَاهُنَا فَقَالَ إِنَّ إِخْوَتِي أَلْقَوْنِي فِي الْجُبِّ قَالَ فَتُحِبُّ أَنْ تَخْرُجَ مِنْهُ قَالَ ذَاكَ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ إِنْ شَاءَ أَخْرَجَنِي قَالَ فَقَالَ لَهُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى يَقُولُ لَكَ ادْعُنِي بِهَذَا الدُّعَاءِ حَتَّى أُخْرِجَكَ مِنَ الْجُبِّ فَقَالَ لَهُ وَ مَا الدُّعَاءُ فَقَالَ قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِأَنَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ الْمَنَّانُ بَدِيعُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ الْأَرْضِ ذُو الْجَلَالِ وَ الْإِكْرَامِ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَ لِي مِمَّا أَنَا فِيهِ فَرَجاً وَ مَخْرَجاً قَالَ ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنْ قِصَّتِهِ مَا ذَكَرَ اللَّهُ فِي كِتَابِهِ .
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Mahboub, from Al Hassan Bin Ammar Al Dahhan, from Misma’a, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘When the brothers of Yusuf<sup>as</sup> threw Yusuf<sup>as</sup> into the well, Jibraeel<sup>as</sup> came over to him<sup>as</sup> and said: ‘O boy<sup>as</sup>! What are you<sup>as</sup> doing over here?’ So he<sup>as</sup> said: ‘My<sup>as</sup> brothers threw me<sup>as</sup> into the well’. He<sup>as</sup> said: ‘So would you<sup>as</sup> like me<sup>as</sup> to take you<sup>as</sup> out from it?’ He<sup>as</sup> said: ‘That is up to Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic. If He<sup>azwj</sup> so Desires to, He<sup>azwj</sup> will Extract me<sup>as</sup>’. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘So he (Jibraeel<sup>as</sup>) said to him<sup>as</sup>: ‘Allah<sup>azwj</sup> the Exalted is Saying to you<sup>as</sup>: “Supplicate to Me<sup>azwj</sup> with this supplication until I<sup>azwj</sup> Extract you<sup>as</sup> from the well’. So he (Yusuf<sup>as</sup>) said to him: ‘And what is the supplication?’ So he<sup>as</sup> said: ‘Say: ‘O Allah<sup>azwj</sup>! I<sup>as</sup> ask You<sup>azwj</sup> with, for You<sup>azwj</sup> is the Praise. There is no god except You<sup>azwj</sup>, the Benefactor, Initiator of the skies and the earth, One with the Majesty and the Benevolence, that You<sup>azwj</sup> Send <span class="iTxt">Salawāt</span> upon Muhammad<sup>saww</sup> and the Progeny<sup>asws</sup> of Muhammad<sup>saww</sup>, and that You<sup>azwj</sup> Make a relief to be for me<sup>as</sup> from what I<sup>as</sup> am (trapped) in, and an exit’. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Then it was from his<sup>as</sup> story what Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mentioned in His<sup>azwj</sup> Book’.
