میں نے آپ کے پاس آواز کا ذکر کیا، تو آپ نے فرمایا: 'بے شک علی بن الحسین علیہ السلام تلاوت کیا کرتے تھے، اور بسا اوقات کوئی راہگیر ان کے پاس سے گزرتا تو ان کی آواز کی خوبصورتی سے بے ہوش ہو جاتا۔ اور بے شک امام اگر اس میں سے کچھ بھی ظاہر کرتے تو لوگ اس کی خوبصورتی کو برداشت نہ کر پاتے۔' میں نے عرض کیا: 'اور کیا رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ لوگوں کو نماز نہیں پڑھاتے تھے اور قرآن کے ساتھ اپنی آواز بلند نہیں کرتے تھے؟' تو آپ نے فرمایا: 'بے شک رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ اپنے پیچھے لوگوں پر صرف اتنا بوجھ ڈالتے تھے جتنا وہ برداشت کر سکتے تھے۔'

Translation

A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Muhammad Bin Hasan Bin Shamoun who said, ‘Ali Bin Muhammad Al Nowfaly narrated to me, (It has been narrated) from Abu Al-Hassan^asws, said: ‘The (good) voice was mentioned in his^asws presence. So he^asws said: ‘Ali^asws Bin Al-Husayn^asws used to recite. So sometimes a passer-by would pause (in order to listen), and he would shriek from the beauty of his^asws voice, and that the Imam^asws, if he^as were to manifest anything from that, the people would not be able to bear the beauty of his^asws voice’. I said, ‘And why didn’t Rasool-Allah^saww raise his^saww voice with the Quran (recitation) when he^saww prayed <span class="iTxt">Salāt</span> with (leading) the people?’ So he^asws said: ‘Rasool-Allah^saww used to only load upon the people – following him^saww what they could endure’.
