سَأَلْتُ عَنِ الْبَالُوعَةِ تَكُونُ فَوْقَ الْبِئْرِ قَالَ إِذَا كَانَتْ فَوْقَ الْبِئْرِ فَسَبْعَةُ أَذْرُعٍ وَ إِذَا كَانَتْ أَسْفَلَ مِنَ الْبِئْرِ فَخَمْسَةُ أَذْرُعٍ مِنْ كُلِّ نَاحِيَةٍ وَ ذَلِكَ كَثِيرٌ .

ہمارے اصحاب کی ایک جماعت نے، احمد بن محمد سے، انہوں نے محمد بن سنان سے، انہوں نے حسن بن رباط سے، انہوں نے ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام سے۔ فرمایا: میں نے آپ سے اس نالی کے بارے میں پوچھا جو کنویں کے اوپر ہو۔ فرمایا: جب وہ کنویں کے اوپر ہو تو سات ہاتھ (فاصلہ چاہیے)؛ اور جب کنویں سے نیچے ہو تو ہر طرف سے پانچ ہاتھ — اور یہ کافی ہے۔
Translation
A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Muhammad Bin Sinan, from Al Hassan Bin Rabaat, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup>, said, ‘I asked him<sup>asws</sup> about the gutter which happens to be higher than the well. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘When it was higher than the well, so there should be seven cubits (distance between the two); and when it was lower than the well, so five cubits from every direction, and that is sufficient’.
