قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) شَاءَ وَ أَرَادَ وَ قَدَّرَ وَ قَضَى قَالَ نَعَمْ قُلْتُ وَ أَحَبَّ قَالَ لَا قُلْتُ وَ كَيْفَ شَاءَ وَ أَرَادَ وَ قَدَّرَ وَ قَضَى وَ لَمْ يُحِبَّ قَالَ هَكَذَا خَرَجَ إِلَيْنَا .

میں نے ابو عبداللہ (علیہ السلام) سے عرض کیا: '(وہ) چاہتا ہے، ارادہ کرتا ہے، تقدیر مقرر کرتا ہے اور فیصلہ کرتا ہے؟' فرمایا: 'ہاں۔' میں نے کہا: 'اور محبت بھی کرتا ہے؟' فرمایا: 'نہیں۔' میں نے کہا: 'اور کیسے وہ چاہتا ہے، ارادہ کرتا ہے، تقدیر مقرر کرتا ہے اور فیصلہ کرتا ہے، جبکہ محبت نہیں کرتا؟' فرمایا: 'ہم تک اس طرح پہنچا ہے۔'
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from Muhammad Bin Isa, from Yunus Bin Abdul Rahman, from Aban, from Abu Baseer who said, ‘I said to Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup>, ‘(He<sup>azwj</sup>) ‘شَاءَ وَ أَرَادَ وَ قَدَّرَ وَ قَضَى’ Desires, and Intends, and Determines and Ordains?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Yes’. I said, ‘And He<sup>azwj</sup> Loves?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘No’. I said, ‘And how does He<sup>azwj</sup> Desires, and Intends, and Determines, and Ordains, and He<sup>azwj</sup> does not Love?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘This is how it has come out to us<sup>asws</sup>’.
