سَأَلْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ الَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلى صَلَواتِهِمْ يُحافِظُونَ قَالَ هِيَ الْفَرِيضَةُ قُلْتُ الَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلى صَلاتِهِمْ دائِمُونَ قَالَ هِيَ النَّافِلَةُ .
Translation
And by this chain, from Hareyz, from Al Fuzayl who said, ‘I asked Abu Ja’far<sup>asws</sup> about the words of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:23#h9"><a href="/books/quran:23#h9">[23:9]</a></a> And those who preserve their Prayers</span>. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘It is the Obligatory (<span class="iTxt">Salāt</span>)’. I said, ‘<span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:70#h23"><a href="/books/quran:70#h23">[70:23]</a></a> Those who are constant at their Salāt</span>?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘It is the optional’.
