سَمِعْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) يَقُولُ الْأَذَانُ وَ الْإِقَامَةُ خَمْسَةٌ وَ ثَلَاثُونَ حَرْفاً فَعَدَّ ذَلِكَ بِيَدِهِ وَاحِداً وَاحِداً الْأَذَانَ ثَمَانِيَةَ عَشَرَ حَرْفاً وَ الْإِقَامَةَ سَبْعَةَ عَشَرَ حَرْفاً .
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from Muhammad Bin Isa Bin Ubeyd, from Yunus, from Aban Bin Usman, from Ismail Al Ju’fy who said, ‘I heard Abu Ja’far<sup>asws</sup> saying: ‘The <span class="iTxt">Azān</span> and the <span class="iTxt">Iqamah</span> are thirty five letters (sentences)’, and he<sup>asws</sup> numbered these by his<sup>asws</sup> hand, one by one, the <span class="iTxt">Azān</span> being of eighteen letters (sentences), and the <span class="iTxt">Iqamah</span> being of seventeen letters (sentences)’.
