سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ كَذلِكَ جَعَلْناكُمْ أُمَّةً وَسَطاً لِتَكُونُوا شُهَداءَ عَلَى النَّاسِ قَالَ نَحْنُ الْأُمَّةُ الْوُسْطَى وَ نَحْنُ شُهَدَاءُ اللَّهِ عَلَى خَلْقِهِ وَ حُجَجُهُ فِي أَرْضِهِ قُلْتُ قَوْلَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ مِلَّةَ أَبِيكُمْ إِبْراهِيمَ قَالَ إِيَّانَا عَنَى خَاصَّةً هُوَ سَمَّاكُمُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ مِنْ قَبْلُ فِي الْكُتُبِ الَّتِي مَضَتْ وَ فِي هَذَا الْقُرْآنِ لِيَكُونَ الرَّسُولُ شَهِيداً عَلَيْكُمْ فَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) الشَّهِيدُ عَلَيْنَا بِمَا بَلَّغَنَا عَنِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ نَحْنُ الشُّهَدَاءُ عَلَى النَّاسِ فَمَنْ صَدَّقَ صَدَّقْنَاهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَ مَنْ كَذَّبَ كَذَّبْنَاهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ .

میں نے ابو عبداللہ علیہ السلام سے اللہ عزوجل کے قول کے بارے میں پوچھا: اور اسی طرح ہم نے تمہیں ایک درمیانی امت بنایا تاکہ تم لوگوں پر گواہ ہو [2:143] آپ نے فرمایا: ہم درمیانی امت ہیں اور ہم اللہ کے گواہ ہیں اپنی مخلوق پر اور اس کی حجتیں اس کی زمین پر۔ میں نے کہا: اللہ عزوجل کا قول: تمہارے باپ ابراہیم کی ملت [22:78]۔ آپ نے فرمایا: اس نے خاص ہمیں مراد لیا ہے۔ اللہ نے پہلے سے گزری کتابوں میں اور اس قرآن میں تم سب کو مسلمان نام رکھا تاکہ رسول تم پر گواہ ہو۔ پس اللہ کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ ہم پر گواہ ہیں اس چیز کے ساتھ جو انہوں نے اللہ عزوجل سے ہمیں پہنچائی، اور ہم لوگوں پر گواہ ہیں۔ پس جو تصدیق کرے گا ہم قیامت کے دن اسکی تصدیق کریں گے اور جو جھٹلائے گا ہم قیامت کے دن اسے جھٹلائیں گے۔
Translation
Al Husayn Bin Muhammad, from Moalla Bin Muhammad, from Al Hassan Bin Ali Al Washha, from Ahmad Bin Aiz, from Umar Bin Azina, from Bureyd Al Ijaly who said, ‘I asked Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> about the Words of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:2#h143"><a href="/books/quran:2#h143">[2:143]</a></a> And thus We Made you a medium (just) nation that you may be the bearers of witness to the people</span>. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘We<sup>asws</sup> are the medium nations, and we<sup>asws</sup> are the witnesses of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> upon His<sup>azwj</sup> creatures and His<sup>azwj</sup> Divine Authorities in His<sup>azwj</sup> earth’. I said, ‘The Words of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:22#h78"><a href="/books/quran:22#h78">[22:78]</a></a> the nation of your father Ibrahim</span>. He<sup>asws</sup> Said: ‘It Means us<sup>asws</sup> in particular. He<sup>azwj</sup> Named you all as Muslims from before in the Books of the past, and in this Quran <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:2#h143"><a href="/books/quran:2#h143">[2:143]</a></a> and (that) the Rasool may become a bearer of witness over you</span>. Thus, Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup> is the witness upon us<sup>asws</sup> with whatever he<sup>saww</sup> delivered to us from Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic, and we<sup>asws</sup> are the witnesses upon the people. So, the one who ratifies, we<sup>asws</sup> shall ratify him on the Day of Judgment, and the one who belies, we<sup>asws</sup> shall belie him on the Day of Judgment’.
