John Shaqi

سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ لا تَجْهَرْ بِصَلاتِكَ وَ لا تُخافِتْ بِها قَالَ الْمُخَافَتَةُ مَا دُونَ سَمْعِكَ وَ الْجَهْرُ أَنْ تَرْفَعَ صَوْتَكَ شَدِيداً .


Translation

And from him, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Usman Bin Isa, from Sama’at who said, ‘I asked him<sup>asws</sup> about the Words of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:17#h110"><a href="/books/quran:17#h110">[17:110]</a></a> and do not utter your Salāt loudly nor be silent with it</span>. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘The ‘silent’ is what is less than what you can hear (yourself), and the ‘loudly’ is that you raise your voice intensely’.
