قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) رَجُلٌ رَاوِيَةٌ لِحَدِيثِكُمْ يَبُثُّ ذَلِكَ فِي النَّاسِ وَ يُشَدِّدُهُ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ وَ قُلُوبِ شِيعَتِكُمْ وَ لَعَلَّ عَابِداً مِنْ شِيعَتِكُمْ لَيْسَتْ لَهُ هَذِهِ الرِّوَايَةُ أَيُّهُمَا أَفْضَلُ قَالَ الرَّاوِيَةُ لِحَدِيثِنَا يَشُدُّ بِهِ قُلُوبَ شِيعَتِنَا أَفْضَلُ مِنْ أَلْفِ عَابِدٍ .

میں نے ابو عبداللہ علیہ السلام سے عرض کیا: ایک شخص آپ کی احادیث کا راوی ہے، انہیں لوگوں میں پھیلاتا ہے اور ان کے دلوں میں اور آپ کے شیعوں کے دلوں میں انہیں مضبوط کرتا ہے، اور شاید آپ کے شیعوں میں سے ایک عابد ہو جسے یہ روایت نہ ہو — ان میں سے کون افضل ہے؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ہماری احادیث کا راوی جو اس سے ہمارے شیعوں کے دلوں کو مضبوط کرتا ہے، ہزار عابد سے افضل ہے۔
Translation
Al Husayn Bin Muhammad, from Ahmad Bin Is’haq, from Sa’dan Bin Muslim, from Muawiya Bin Ammar who said, ‘I said to Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup>, ‘A man, a reporter of your<sup>asws</sup> Ahadeeth, transmitting it among the people and fastening them into their hearts and the hearts of your<sup>asws</sup> Shias, and there is a worshipper from your<sup>asws</sup> Shias, who do not transmit (the Ahadeeth) for them (Shias), which of the two is superior?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘The transmitter of our<sup>asws</sup> Ahadeeth, fastening the hearts of our<sup>asws</sup> Shias with it, is superior to a thousand worshippers’.
