John Shaqi

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) يَقُولُ إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ يُوقَظُ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَقُمْ أَتَاهُ الشَّيْطَانُ فَبَالَ فِي أُذُنِهِ قَالَ وَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ كانُوا قَلِيلًا مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ما يَهْجَعُونَ قَالَ كَانُوا أَقَلَّ اللَّيَالِي تَفُوتُهُمْ لَا يَقُومُونَ فِيهَا .


Translation

Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Umeyr, from Abu Ayoub Al-Khazaz, from Muhammad Bin Muslim who said, ‘I heard Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> saying: ‘The servant wakes up three times at night, so if he does not stand (for <span class="iTxt">Salāt</span>), the Satan<sup>la</sup> comes to him and urinates in his ear’. He (the narrator) said, ‘And I asked him<sup>asws</sup> about the Words of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:51#h17"><a href="/books/quran:51#h17">[51:17]</a></a> They used to sleep but little in the night</span>. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘There were very few nights which they missed out on, not standing (for the <span class="iTxt">Salāt</span>) in them’.
