سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ يَغْدُو النَّاسُ عَلَى ثَلَاثَةِ أَصْنَافٍ عَالِمٍ وَ مُتَعَلِّمٍ وَ غُثَاءٍ فَنَحْنُ الْعُلَمَاءُ وَ شِيعَتُنَا الْمُتَعَلِّمُونَ وَ سَائِرُ النَّاسِ غُثَاءٌ .

علی بن ابراہیم نے محمد بن عیسی سے، انہوں نے یونس سے، انہوں نے جمیل سے، انہوں نے ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام سے روایت کی، فرمایا: میں نے انہیں یہ کہتے سنا: 'لوگ تین قسموں میں تقسیم ہو جاتے ہیں: عالم، طالب علم، اور غثاء (بے فائدہ)۔ پس ہم علماء ہیں، اور ہمارے شیعہ طالب علم ہیں، اور باقی لوگ غثاء ہیں۔'
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from Muhammad Bin Isa, from Yunus, from Jameel, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup>, said, ‘I heard him<sup>asws</sup> saying: ‘The people came to be upon three types – a scholar, and a student, and scum. So we<sup>asws</sup> are the scholars, and our<sup>asws</sup> Shia are the students, and the rest of the people, are scum’ (worthless).
