قَالَ لِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) أَ لَا أُخْبِرُكَ بِأَصْلِ الْإِسْلَامِ وَ فَرْعِهِ وَ ذِرْوَتِهِ وَ سَنَامِهِ قُلْتُ بَلَى قَالَ أَصْلُهُ الصَّلَاةُ وَ فَرْعُهُ الزَّكَاةُ وَ ذِرْوَتُهُ وَ سَنَامُهُ الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَ لَا أُخْبِرُكَ بِأَبْوَابِ الْخَيْرِ إِنَّ الصَّوْمَ جُنَّةٌ .

محمد بن یحییٰ نے احمد بن محمد بن عیسیٰ سے، انہوں نے ابن فضال سے، انہوں نے ثعلبہ سے، انہوں نے علی بن عبد العزیز سے روایت کی کہ: ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام نے مجھ سے فرمایا: 'کیا میں تمہیں اسلام کی اصل، اس کی شاخ، اس کی بلندی اور اس کی کوہان سے آگاہ نہ کروں؟' میں نے کہا: 'جی ہاں'۔ آپ نے فرمایا: 'اس کی اصل نماز ہے، اس کی شاخ زکوٰة ہے، اور اس کی بلندی اور کوہان اللہ کی راہ میں جہاد ہے۔ کیا میں تمہیں خیر کے دروازوں سے آگاہ نہ کروں؟ بے شک روزہ ڈھال ہے'۔
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Ibn Fazaal, from Sa’alba, from Ali Bin Abdul Aziz who said, ‘Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> said to me: ‘Shall I<sup>asws</sup> inform you with the root of Al-Islam and its branch, and its peak and its high point?’ I said, ‘Yes’. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Its root is the Salaat (Prayer), and its branch is the Zakaat, and its peak and its high point is the Jihad in the Way of Allah<sup>azwj</sup>. Shall I<sup>asws</sup> inform you of the doors of the goodness? The Fast is a shield’.
