كَانَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ( عليه السلام ) إِذَا كَانَ الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي يَصُومُ فِيهِ أَمَرَ بِشَاةٍ فَتُذْبَحُ وَ تُقْطَعُ أَعْضَاءً وَ تُطْبَخُ فَإِذَا كَانَ عِنْدَ الْمَسَاءِ أَكَبَّ عَلَى الْقُدُورِ حَتَّى يَجِدَ رِيحَ الْمَرَقِ وَ هُوَ صَائِمٌ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ هَاتُوا الْقِصَاعَ اغْرِفُوا لآِلِ فُلَانٍ وَ اغْرِفُوا لآِلِ فُلَانٍ ثُمَّ يُؤْتَى بِخُبْزٍ وَ تَمْرٍ فَيَكُونُ ذَلِكَ عَشَاءَهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ عَلَى آبَائِهِ .

علی بن حسین علیہ السلام جس دن روزہ رکھتے، ایک بکری ذبح کرنے کا حکم دیتے اور اسے ٹکڑے کر کے پکایا جاتا۔ پھر جب شام ہوتی تو آپ روزہ دار ہوتے ہوئے دیگچیوں پر جھک جاتے یہاں تک کہ شوربے کی خوشبو پاتے۔ پھر آپ فرماتے: 'پیالے لاؤ، فلاں خاندان کے لیے ڈالو اور فلاں خاندان کے لیے ڈالو۔' پھر آپ کے لیے روٹی اور کھجوریں لائی جاتیں اور یہی ان کا عشائیہ ہوتا۔ اللہ ان پر اور ان کے آباؤ اجداد پر درود بھیجے۔
Translation
Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Ali, from Ali Bin Asbaat, from Sayabat, from Zureys, from Hamza Bin Humran, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘Ali<sup>asws</sup> Bin Al-Husayn<sup>asws</sup>, whenever it was a day in which he<sup>asws</sup> used to Fast in, would order with a sheep, so it would be slaughtered, and its parts would be cut and cooked. So when it would be the evening, he<sup>asws</sup> would devote himself<sup>asws</sup> upon the cooking pots until he<sup>asws</sup> would find the aroma of the broth, and he<sup>asws</sup> would be Fasting, then he<sup>asws</sup> would be saying: ‘Bring a bowl, fill it for the family of so and so, and fill it for the family of so and so’. Then he<sup>asws</sup> would bring bread and dates, so that would happen to be his<sup>asws</sup> dinner. May Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Bless upon him<sup>asws</sup> and upon his<sup>asws</sup> forefathers’.
