علی بن ابراہیم نے ہارون بن مسلم سے، انہوں نے مسعدہ سے، انہوں نے ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام سے، انہوں نے اپنے والد علیہ السلام سے روایت کی کہ: سدیر میرے والد علیہ السلام کے پاس ماہ رمضان میں آئے، تو آپ نے فرمایا: 'اے سدیر! کیا تم جانتے ہو یہ کون سی راتیں ہیں؟' اس نے کہا: 'ہاں، میرے باپ آپ پر قربان — یہ ماہ رمضان کی راتیں ہیں، لیکن اس سے کیا مقصد ہے؟' تو آپ نے فرمایا: 'کیا تم ان راتوں میں سے ہر رات اولاد اسماعیل میں سے دس گردنیں آزاد کر سکتے ہو؟' سدیر نے کہا: 'میرے باپ اور ماں آپ پر قربان — میرا مال اتنا نہیں ہے۔' پس آپ برابر تعداد کم کرتے رہے یہاں تک کہ ایک گردن تک پہنچ گئے، اور ہر مرتبہ وہ کہتا: 'میں اس پر قادر نہیں۔' پھر آپ نے فرمایا: 'کیا تم ہر رات ایک مسلمان مرد کو افطار کرا سکتے ہو؟' اس نے کہا: 'ہاں، بلکہ دس کو بھی۔' تو میرے والد علیہ السلام نے فرمایا: 'یہی وہ ہے جو میں چاہتا تھا، اے سدیر! تمہارا اپنے مسلمان بھائی کو افطار کرانا اولاد اسماعیل علیہ السلام میں سے ایک گردن آزاد کرنے کے برابر ہے۔'

Translation

Ali Bin Ibrahim, from Haroun Bin Muslim, from Mas’ada, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah^asws, from his^asws father^asws having said: ‘Sudeyr came over to my^asws father^asws during the Month of Ramazan, so he^asws said: ‘O Sudeyr! Do you know which of the nights this one is?’ So he said, ‘Yes, may my father be sacrificed for you^asws! These are the nights of the Month of Ramazan. So what is that?’ So he^asws said to him: ‘Are you able upon freeing, during each night from these nights, ten necks from the children of Ismail^as?’ So Sudeyr said to him: ‘May my father be sacrificed for you^asws, and my mother (as well), my wealth would not reach that’. So he^asws did not cease to reduce (from ten) until it reached one neck. During each of that, he was saying, ‘I am not able over it’. So he^asws said: ‘So what is your ability if you were to provide breaking of a Fast, during each night, to a Muslim man?’ So he said to him^asws, ‘Yes, and (even) ten’. So my^asws father^asws said to him: ‘So that is what I^asws intended, O Sudeyr! Your providing for the breaking of a Fast for your Muslim brother equates to (liberating) one neck from the children of Ismail^as’.
