سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ صَوْمِ يَوْمِ الشَّكِّ فَقَالَ صُمْهُ فَإِنْ يَكُ مِنْ شَعْبَانَ كَانَ تَطَوُّعاً وَ إِنْ يَكُ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ فَيَوْمٌ وُفِّقْتَ لَهُ .

احمد بن محمد نے ابن ابی الصہبان سے، انہوں نے محمد بن بکر بن جناح سے، انہوں نے علی بن شجرہ سے، انہوں نے بشیر النبال سے، انہوں نے ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام سے روایت کی کہ آپ نے فرمایا: میں نے ان سے یوم الشک کے روزے کے بارے میں سوال کیا۔ تو آپ نے فرمایا: اس کا روزہ رکھو۔ اگر یہ شعبان سے ہو تو نفل ہوگا، اور اگر ماہ رمضان سے ہو تو وہ ایک دن ہے جس کی تمہیں توفیق دی گئی۔
Translation
Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ibn Abu Al Suhban, from Muhammad Bin Bakr Bin Janah, from Ali Bin Shajara, from Bashir Al Nabbal, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup>, said, ‘I asked him<sup>asws</sup> about a Fast of the day of doubt. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Fast it. So, if it was from Shaban, it was a voluntary (Fast), and if it was from the Month of Ramazan, so it would be a commensurate day for it’.
