میں نے ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام کو کہتے ہوئے سنا: میں اپنے والد کے ساتھ حجر میں تھا۔ جبکہ وہ نماز میں کھڑے تھے، ایک شخص ان کے پاس آیا اور بیٹھ گیا۔ جب نماز سے فارغ ہوئے تو اس نے سلام کیا اور پھر کہا: میں آپ سے تین چیزوں کے بارے میں پوچھتا ہوں جنہیں آپ اور ایک اور شخص کے علاوہ کوئی نہیں جانتا۔ آپ نے فرمایا: وہ کیا ہیں؟ اس نے کہا: مجھے بتائیں، اس بیت کے طواف کا سبب کیا تھا؟ آپ نے فرمایا: جب اللہ عزوجل نے فرشتوں کو آدم علیہ السلام کو سجدہ کرنے کا حکم دیا تو انہوں نے اعتراض کیا۔ انہوں نے کہا: [2:30] کیا آپ اس میں ایسے کو رکھیں گے جو فساد اور خون بہائے گا، حالانکہ ہم آپ کی حمد کے ساتھ تسبیح اور تقدیس بیان کرتے ہیں؟ اللہ تبارک و تعالی نے فرمایا: میں وہ جانتا ہوں جو تم نہیں جانتے۔ پس وہ ان پر غضبناک ہوا۔ پھر انہوں نے توبہ کی التجا کی، تو اللہ نے انہیں حکم دیا کہ وہ ضراح کا طواف کریں — اور وہ بیت المعمور ہے — اور وہ سات سال تک اس کا طواف کرتے رہے اور اپنی کہی ہوئی بات کی اللہ عزوجل سے مغفرت مانگتے رہے۔ پھر اللہ نے اس کے بعد ان کی توبہ قبول کی اور ان سے راضی ہوا۔ یہی طواف کی اصل تھی۔ پھر اللہ نے بیت الحرام کو ضراح کے مقابل بنایا — بنی آدم کے گنہگاروں کے لیے توبہ اور ان کے لیے پاکیزگی کا ذریعہ بنا کر۔ پس اس نے کہا: آپ نے سچ فرمایا۔

Translation

Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Abu Nasr and Ibn Mahboub, altogether from Al Mufazzal Bin Salih, from Muhammad Bin Marwan who said, ‘I heard Abu Abdullah^asws saying: ‘I^asws was with my^asws father^asws at the (Black) Stone. So whilst he^asws was standing Praying, a man came over to him^asws, and he sat (near) him^asws. So when he^asws finished, he greeted him^asws, then said, ‘I ask you^asws about three things, none knows these except you^asws, and another man’. He^asws said: ‘What are these?’ He said, ‘Inform me, which thing was the cause of the circumambulation of the House (Kaaba)?’ So he^asws said: ‘Allah^azwj Mighty and Majestic, when He^azwj Commanded the Angels that they should Prostrate to Adam^saww they responded to Him^azwj, so they said <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:2#h30"><a href="/books/quran:2#h30">[2:30]</a></a> Are You going to Make in it one as shall make mischief therein and shed the blood, and we Glorify with Your Praise and extol Your Holiness?</span> Allah^azwj Blessed and High said: <span class="ibTxt">He said: I know what you are not knowing</span>. Thus, He^azwj was Angered upon them. Then, they pleaded Him^azwj for the Forgiveness, so He^azwj Commanded them that (to attain it) they should be circumambulating by <span class="iTxt">Al-Zurah</span>, and it is the <span class="iTxt">Bayt Al-Mamour</span> (The Oft-Frequented House). And they remained circuambulating by it for seven years, seeking Forgiveness of Allah^azwj Mighty and Majestic, due to what they had said. Then He^azwj Turned towards them (with Mercy) and was Pleased with them. So this was the origin of the circumambulation. Then Allah^azwj Made the Sacred House facing <span class="iTxt">Al-Zurah</span>, as (a means of) repentance for the ones from the Children of Adam^as who sin, and (as a means of) Purificatin for them’. So he said, ‘You^asws speak the truth’.
