إِنَّ جَبْرَئِيلَ ( عليه السلام ) أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) بِرُمَّانَتَيْنِ فَأَكَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) إِحْدَاهُمَا وَ كَسَرَ الْأُخْرَى بِنِصْفَيْنِ فَأَكَلَ نِصْفاً وَ أَطْعَمَ عَلِيّاً نِصْفاً ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) يَا أَخِي هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا هَاتَانِ الرُّمَّانَتَانِ قَالَ لَا قَالَ أَمَّا الْأُولَى فَالنُّبُوَّةُ لَيْسَ لَكَ فِيهَا نَصِيبٌ وَ أَمَّا الْأُخْرَى فَالْعِلْمُ أَنْتَ شَرِيكِي فِيهِ فَقُلْتُ أَصْلَحَكَ اللَّهُ كَيْفَ كَانَ يَكُونُ شَرِيكَهُ فِيهِ قَالَ لَمْ يُعَلِّمِ اللَّهُ مُحَمَّداً ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) عِلْماً إِلَّا وَ أَمَرَهُ أَنْ يُعَلِّمَهُ عَلِيّاً ( عليه السلام ) .

علی بن ابراہیم، ان کے والد سے، ابن ابی عمیر سے، ابن اذینہ سے، عبداللہ بن سلیمان سے، حمران بن اعین سے، ابو عبداللہ علیہ السلام سے روایت ہے، جنہوں نے فرمایا: بے شک جبرئیل علیہ السلام رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ کے پاس دو انار لے کر آئے۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ نے ان میں سے ایک کھایا، اور دوسرے کو دو حصوں میں توڑ دیا۔ آپ نے ایک آدھا کھایا اور ایک آدھا علی کو کھلا دیا۔ پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ نے فرمایا: “اے میرے بھائی، کیا تم جانتے ہو کہ یہ دونوں انار کیا ہیں؟” انہوں نے کہا: “نہیں۔” آپ نے فرمایا: “پہلا نبوت ہے؛ اس میں تمہارا کوئی حصہ نہیں۔ اور دوسرا علم ہے؛ تم اس میں میرے شریک ہو۔” تو میں نے عرض کیا: “اللہ آپ کو سلامت رکھے، وہ اس میں ان کا شریک کیسے تھا؟” آپ نے فرمایا: “اللہ نے محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ کو کوئی علم نہیں سکھایا مگر یہ کہ اس نے انہیں حکم دیا کہ وہ اسے علی علیہ السلام کو سکھائیں۔”
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Ibn Azina, from Abdullah Bin Suleyman, from Humran Bin Ayn, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘Jibraeel<sup>as</sup> came to Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup> with two pomegranates. So Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup> ate one of the two and broke the other one in two halves. So he<sup>saww</sup> ate half and fed Ali<sup>asws</sup> half. Then Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup> said: ‘O my<sup>saww</sup> brother<sup>asws</sup>! Do you<sup>asws</sup> know what there two pomegranates are?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘No’. He<sup>saww</sup> said: ‘As for the first, so it is the Prophet-hood. There isn’t a share for you<sup>asws</sup> in it. And as for the other, so it is the knowledge. You<sup>asws</sup> are my<sup>saww</sup> associate in it’. So I said, ‘May Allah<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> Keep you<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> well! He<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> happened to be his<sup style="font-weight: normal">saww</sup> associate in it?’ He<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> said: ‘Allah<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> did not Teach Muhammad<sup style="font-weight: normal">saww</sup> a knowledge except that He<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> Commanded him<sup style="font-weight: normal">saww</sup> that he<sup style="font-weight: normal">saww</sup> teaches it to Ali<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>’.
