نَزَلَ جَبْرَئِيلُ ( عليه السلام ) عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) بِرُمَّانَتَيْنِ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَأَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهُمَا فَأَكَلَ وَاحِدَةً وَ كَسَرَ الْأُخْرَى بِنِصْفَيْنِ فَأَعْطَى عَلِيّاً ( عليه السلام ) نِصْفَهَا فَأَكَلَهَا فَقَالَ يَا عَلِيُّ أَمَّا الرُّمَّانَةُ الْأُولَى الَّتِي أَكَلْتُهَا فَالنُّبُوَّةُ لَيْسَ لَكَ فِيهَا شَيْءٌ وَ أَمَّا الْأُخْرَى فَهُوَ الْعِلْمُ فَأَنْتَ شَرِيكِي فِيهِ .

علی، اپنے والد سے، ابن ابی عمیر سے، ابن اُذَینہ سے، زرارہ سے، ابو جعفر (عليه السلام) سے روایت کرتے ہیں، جنہوں نے فرمایا: جبرائیل (عليه السلام) رسولِ اللہ (صلى الله عليه وآله) کے پاس جنت سے دو انار لے کر نازل ہوئے۔ انہوں نے دونوں آپ کو دیے، تو آپ نے ان میں سے ایک کھایا اور دوسرے کو دو حصوں میں تقسیم کر دیا۔ آپ نے اس کا آدھا حصہ علی (عليه السلام) کو دیا، اور انہوں نے اسے کھا لیا۔ پھر آپ نے فرمایا: “اے علی، جہاں تک پہلے انار کا تعلق ہے جسے میں نے کھایا، وہ نبوت ہے، اور اس میں تمہارا کوئی حصہ نہیں؛ اور جہاں تک دوسرے کا تعلق ہے، وہ علم ہے، پس تم اس میں میرے شریک ہو۔”
Translation
Ali, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Azina, from Zurara, (It has been narrated) from Abu Ja’far<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> having said: ‘Jibraeel<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> descended unto Rasool-Allah<sup style="font-weight: normal">saww</sup> with two pomegranates from the Paradise. So he<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> gave him<sup style="font-weight: normal">saww</sup> these two. So he<sup style="font-weight: normal">saww</sup> ate one and broke the other one into two halves, and gave Ali<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> half of it, so he<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> ate it, and he<sup style="font-weight: normal">saww</sup> said: ‘O Ali<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>! As for the first pomegranate which I<sup style="font-weight: normal">saww</sup> ate, so it is the Prophet-hood, there isn’t a share for you in it. And as for the other, so it is the knowledge, so You<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> are my<sup style="font-weight: normal">saww</sup> associate in it’.
