قُلْتُ لَهُ الْإِمَامُ مَتَى يَعْرِفُ إِمَامَتَهُ وَ يَنْتَهِي الْأَمْرُ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ فِي آخِرِ دَقِيقَةٍ مِنْ حَيَاةِ الْأَوَّلِ .

محمد بن یحیی، محمد بن الحسین سے، یعقوب بن یزید سے، علی بن اسباط سے، ان کے ایک ساتھی سے، ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام سے روایت ہے، جنہوں نے فرمایا: میں نے ان سے علیہ السلام عرض کیا: “امام اپنی امامت کو کب پہچانتا ہے اور امر کب اس کے پاس اپنے انجام کو پہنچتا ہے؟” انہوں نے علیہ السلام فرمایا: “پہلے امام کی زندگی کے آخری لمحے میں۔”
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Muhammad Bin Al Husayn, from Yaqoub Bin Yazeed, from Ali Bin Asbat, from one of his companions, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup>, said, ‘I said to him<sup>asws</sup>, ‘The Imam<sup>asws</sup>, when does he<sup>asws</sup> recognise his<sup>asws</sup> own Imamate and the ending of the command up to him<sup>asws</sup>?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘During the last minute from the life of the former (Imam<sup>asws</sup>)’.
