أَوْصَى أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( عليه السلام ) إِلَى الْحَسَنِ وَ أَشْهَدَ عَلَى وَصِيَّتِهِ الْحُسَيْنَ ( عليه السلام ) وَ مُحَمَّداً وَ جَمِيعَ وُلْدِهِ وَ رُؤَسَاءَ شِيعَتِهِ وَ أَهْلَ بَيْتِهِ ثُمَّ دَفَعَ إِلَيْهِ الْكِتَابَ وَ السِّلَاحَ ثُمَّ قَالَ لِابْنِهِ الْحَسَنِ يَا بُنَيَّ أَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ أَنْ أُوصِيَ إِلَيْكَ وَ أَنْ أَدْفَعَ إِلَيْكَ كُتُبِي وَ سِلَاحِي كَمَا أَوْصَى إِلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَ دَفَعَ إِلَيَّ كُتُبَهُ وَ سِلَاحَهُ وَ أَمَرَنِي أَنْ آمُرَكَ إِذَا حَضَرَكَ الْمَوْتُ أَنْ تَدْفَعَهُ إِلَى أَخِيكَ الْحُسَيْنِ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى ابْنِهِ الْحُسَيْنِ وَ قَالَ أَمَرَكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) أَنْ تَدْفَعَهُ إِلَى ابْنِكَ هَذَا ثُمَّ أَخَذَ بِيَدِ ابْنِ ابْنِهِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَالَ لِعَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ يَا بُنَيَّ وَ أَمَرَكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) أَنْ تَدْفَعَهُ إِلَى ابْنِكَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ وَ أَقْرِئْهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) وَ مِنِّي السَّلَامَ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى ابْنِهِ الْحَسَنِ فَقَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ أَنْتَ وَلِيُّ الْأَمْرِ وَ وَلِيُّ الدَّمِ فَإِنْ عَفَوْتَ فَلَكَ وَ إِنْ قَتَلْتَ فَضَرْبَةٌ مَكَانَ ضَرْبَةٍ وَ لَا تَأْثَمْ .

ہمارے بعض اصحاب نے، احمد بن محمد سے، انہوں نے حسین بن سعید سے، انہوں نے حماد بن عیسیٰ سے، انہوں نے عمرو بن شمر سے، انہوں نے جابر سے، انہوں نے ابو جعفر (عليه السلام) سے روایت کی، جنہوں نے فرمایا: امیر المؤمنین (عليه السلام) نے حسن کو وصیت کی، اور حسین (عليه السلام)، محمد، اپنے تمام بیٹوں، اپنے شیعہ کے سرداروں، اور اپنے اہلِ بیت کو اپنی وصیت پر گواہ بنایا۔ پھر انہوں نے کتاب اور ہتھیار اس کے حوالے کیے۔ پھر انہوں نے اپنے بیٹے حسن سے فرمایا: “اے میرے بیٹے، رسول اللہ صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم نے مجھے حکم دیا کہ میں تمہیں وصیت کروں، اور اپنی کتابیں اور اپنا ہتھیار تمہارے حوالے کروں، جیسے رسول اللہ صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم نے مجھے وصیت کی اور اپنی کتابیں اور اپنا ہتھیار میرے حوالے کیا۔ اور انہوں نے مجھے حکم دیا کہ میں تمہیں حکم دوں کہ جب تمہارے پاس موت آئے تو اسے اپنے بھائی حسین کے حوالے کر دینا۔” پھر انہوں نے اپنے بیٹے حسین کی طرف رخ کیا اور فرمایا: “رسول اللہ صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم نے تمہیں حکم دیا کہ اسے تمہارے اس بیٹے کے حوالے کر دو،” پھر انہوں نے اپنے پوتے علی بن حسین کا ہاتھ پکڑا۔ پھر انہوں نے اپنے بیٹے علی بن الحسین سے فرمایا: "اے میرے بیٹے، اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے تمہیں حکم دیا تھا کہ اسے اپنے بیٹے محمد بن علی کے حوالے کر دو، اور اسے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی طرف سے اور میری طرف سے سلام پہنچا دو۔" پھر انہوں نے اپنے بیٹے الحسن کی طرف رخ کیا اور فرمایا: "اے میرے بیٹے، تم اختیار کے مالک اور خون کے ولی ہو۔ پس اگر تم معاف کرو تو وہ تمہارے لیے ہے؛ اور اگر تم قتل کرو تو ایک ضرب کے بدلے ایک ضرب ہے، اور تم گناہگار نہ ہوگے۔"
Translation
A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Al Husayn Bin Saeed, from Hammad Bin Isa, from Amro Bin Shimr, from Jabir, (It has been narrated) from Abu Ja’far<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘Amir Al-Momineen<sup>asws</sup> bequeathed to Al-Hassan<sup>asws</sup>, and there bore witness upon his<sup>asws</sup> bequest, Al-Husayn<sup>asws</sup>, and Muhammad, and the entirety of his<sup>asws</sup> children, and the chiefs of his<sup>asws</sup> Shias, and his<sup>asws</sup> family members. Then he<sup>asws</sup> handed over to him<sup>asws</sup> the Book and the weapons, then said to his<sup>asws</sup> son<sup>asws</sup> Al-Hassan<sup>asws</sup>: ‘O my<sup>asws</sup> son<sup>asws</sup>! Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup> instructed me<sup>asws</sup> that I<sup>asws</sup> should instruct you<sup>asws</sup> when the death presents itself, that you<sup>asws</sup> should hand it over to your<sup>asws</sup> brother<sup>asws</sup> Al-Husayn<sup>asws</sup>’. Then he<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> turned towards his<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> son<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> Al-Husayn<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> and said: ‘Rasool-Allah<sup style="font-weight: normal">saww</sup> instructed you<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> that you<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> should hand it over to this son<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> of yours<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> Ali<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> Bin Al-Husayn<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>’. Then he<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> said to Ali<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> Bin Al-Husayn<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>: ‘O my<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> son<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>! And Rasool-Allah<sup style="font-weight: normal">saww</sup> instructed you<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> that you<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> should hand it over to your<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> son<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> Muhammad<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> Bin Ali<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>, and convey from Rasool-Allah<sup style="font-weight: normal">saww</sup> and from me<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>, the greetings’. Then he<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> turned towards his<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> son Al-Hassan<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>, so he<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> said: ‘O my<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> son<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>! You<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> are the Master of the Command (<span class="iTxt">Wali Al-Amr</span>) and Guardian of the blood (avenging me<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>). So if you<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> were to forgive, so it is for you<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>, and if you<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> were to kill (Ibn Al-Muljim), so a strike in place of a strike, and you<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> would not be overdoing’.
