میں نے اُن سے عرض کیا: نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ کے اس قول کا کیا مطلب ہے: اُن میں سے کم مرتبہ اُن کی ذمہ داری سے چلتا ہے؟ آپ نے فرمایا: اگر مسلمانوں کا لشکر مشرکین کی ایک قوم کا محاصرہ کرے اور ایک آدمی نمودار ہو کر کہے: مجھے امان دو تاکہ میں تمہارے سردار سے ملوں اور اُن سے مناظرہ کروں — تو اُن میں سے کم مرتبہ نے اسے امان دی، تو اُن میں سب سے افضل پر اس کا ایفا واجب ہے۔

Translation

Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Al Nowfaly, from Al Sakuny, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah^asws, said, ‘I said to him^asws, ‘What is the meaning of the words of the Prophet^saww: ‘Take to their responsibilities of the lowest of them’?’ He^asws said: ‘If an army of the Muslims surround a people from the Polytheists, so a man approaches and says, ‘Give me the security until I meet your companion and debate him’. So if the lowest of them (in the army rank) grants him the security, it is Obligatory upon the most superior of them to be loyal with it (to honour the words of the lower rank soldier)’.
