إِطْعَامُ الْأَسِيرِ حَقٌّ عَلَى مَنْ أَسَرَهُ وَ إِنْ كَانَ يُرَادُ مِنَ الْغَدِ قَتْلُهُ فَإِنَّهُ يَنْبَغِي أَنْ يُطْعَمَ وَ يُسْقَى وَ [يُظَلَّ] وَ يُرْفَقَ بِهِ كَافِراً كَانَ أَوْ غَيْرَهُ .
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Hammad, from Hareyz, from Zurara, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘Feeding the prisoner is a right upon the one who imprisoned him, and even if he intended killing him in the next day. So it is befitting that he feeds him, and quenches him, and shades him and is kind with him, whether he was an Infidel or someone else’.
