أَخْبَرَنِي مَنْ كَانَ عِنْدَ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا ( عليه السلام ) جَالِساً فَلَمَّا نَهَضُوا قَالَ لَهُمُ الْقَوْا أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ فَسَلِّمُوا عَلَيْهِ وَ أَحْدِثُوا بِهِ عَهْداً فَلَمَّا نَهَضَ الْقَوْمُ الْتَفَتَ إِلَيَّ فَقَالَ يَرْحَمُ اللَّهُ الْمُفَضَّلَ إِنَّهُ كَانَ لَيَقْنَعُ بِدُونِ هَذَا .

علی بن محمد، سہل بن زیاد سے، محمد بن الولید سے، یحییٰ بن حبیب الزیات سے، انہوں نے کہا: وہ شخص جو ابوالحسن الرضا علیہ السلام کی مجلس میں بیٹھا ہوا تھا، اس نے مجھے خبر دی کہ جب وہ اٹھے تو انہوں نے ان سے فرمایا: “ابو جعفر سے ملو، پھر ان پر سلام کرو علیہ السلام اور ان سے اپنا عہد تازہ کرو۔” پھر جب لوگ اٹھے تو انہوں نے میری طرف رخ کیا اور فرمایا: “اللہ مفضل پر رحم فرمائے؛ وہ اس سے بھی کم پر قناعت کر لیتا تھا۔”
Translation
Ali Bin Muhammad, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Muhammad Bin Al Waleed, from Yahya Bin Habeeb Al Zayyat who said, ‘He informed me, the one who was seated in the presence of Abu Al-Hassan Al-Reza<sup>asws</sup>, that when they (people) arose (to leave the gathering), he<sup>asws</sup> said to them: ‘Meet Abu Ja’far<sup>asws</sup>, so greet upon him<sup>asws</sup> and renew the Covenant with him<sup>asws</sup>’. So when the people left, he<sup>asws</sup> turned towards me and he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘May Allah<sup>azwj</sup> be Merciful to Al-Mufazzal, he was content without this’.
