احمد، محمد بن علی سے، ابن قیامہ الواسطی سے، انہوں نے کہا: میں علی بن موسیٰ (عليه السلام) کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا اور میں نے ان سے کہا: “کیا دو امام ہو سکتے ہیں؟” انہوں نے فرمایا: “نہیں، مگر یہ کہ ان میں سے ایک خاموش ہو۔” تو میں نے ان سے کہا: “یہ تو آپ ہیں؛ آپ کے لیے کوئی خاموش نہیں ہے،” اور ابو جعفر (عليه السلام) ابھی ان کے ہاں پیدا نہیں ہوئے تھے۔ پھر انہوں نے مجھ سے فرمایا: “اللہ کی قسم، اللہ ضرور مجھ سے وہ ظاہر کرے گا جس کے ذریعے وہ حق اور اس کے اہل کو ثابت کرے گا، اور باطل اور اس کے اہل کو مٹا دے گا۔” پھر ایک سال بعد ابو جعفر (عليه السلام) ان کے ہاں پیدا ہوئے، اور ابن قیامہ واقفی تھا۔

Translation

Ahmad, from Muhammad Bin Ali, from Ibn Qiyama Al Wasity who said, ‘I went over to Ali^asws Bin Musa^asws and I said to him^asws, ‘Can there happen to be two Imams^asws?’ He^asws said: ‘No, except one of the two would be silent’. So I said to him^asws, ‘It is that. You^asws are such that there isn’t a silent one for you^asws’, and he^asws had not (yet) been blessed with Abu Ja’far^asws. So he^asws said to me: ‘By Allah^azwj! Allah^azwj would be Making from me^asws what the Truth will be established with and its people, and the Falsehood would be Obliterated with and its people’. So, after a year, he^asws was blessed with Abu Ja’far^asws. And it was so that Qiyama (the narrator) was a Waqifite (a sect)’.
