ہمارے بعض اصحاب نے سعد بن عبداللہ سے، انہوں نے ایوب بن نوح سے روایت کی، انہوں نے کہا: میں نے ابو الحسن الرضا علیہ السلام سے کہا: “میں امید رکھتا ہوں کہ آپ ہی اس امر کے صاحب ہوں گے، اور اللہ اسے آپ تک بغیر تلوار کے پہنچائے گا، کیونکہ آپ کے لیے بیعت کی جا چکی ہے اور درہم آپ کے نام سے ڈھالے جا چکے ہیں۔” تو انہوں نے فرمایا: “ہم میں سے کوئی بھی ایسا نہیں جس کی طرف خطوط بھیجے نہ جاتے ہوں، جس کی طرف انگلیوں سے اشارہ نہ کیا جاتا ہو، جس سے مسائل پوچھے نہ جاتے ہوں، اور جس تک اموال نہ پہنچائے جاتے ہوں، مگر یہ کہ اسے قتل کر دیا جاتا ہے یا وہ اپنے بستر پر وفات پاتا ہے، یہاں تک کہ اللہ اس امر کے لیے ہم میں سے ایک لڑکے کو بھیجے، جس کی ولادت اور پرورش مخفی ہو، مگر اس کا نسب مخفی نہ ہو۔”

Translation

A number of our companions, from Sa’ad Bin Abdullah, from Ayoub Bin Nuh who said, ‘I said to Abu Al-Hassan Al-Reza^asws, ‘I am hoping that you^asws would happen to be the Master^asws of this command and that Allah^azwj would Usher it to You^asws without (having raised) a sword, for allegiance has been pledged to you^asws and the Dirham has been struck with your^asws name (on it)’. So he^asws said: ‘There is none from us^asws with whom letters have been exchanged and he^asws has been pointed to with the fingers, and asked about the questioned, and the wealth has been carried over to him^asws, except that he^asws has been assassinated or passed away upon his^asws bed, until Allah^azwj Would Send for this command, a boy from us^asws, concealed of the birth and the growth, without there being a concealment with regards to his^asws lineage’.
