John Shaqi

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) يَقُولُ سَاقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) إِلَى أَزْوَاجِهِ اثْنَتَيْ عَشْرَةَ أُوقِيَّةً وَ نَشّاً وَ الْأُوقِيَّةُ أَرْبَعُونَ دِرْهَماً وَ النَّشُّ نِصْفُ الْأُوقِيَّةِ عِشْرُونَ دِرْهَماً فَكَانَ ذَلِكَ خَمْسَمِائَةِ دِرْهَمٍ قُلْتُ بِوَزْنِنَا قَالَ نَعَمْ .


Translation

Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Ali Bin Al Hakam, from Muawiya Bin Wahab who said, ‘I heard Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> saying: ‘Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup> dispatched to his<sup>saww</sup> wives, twelve <span class="iTxt">Owqiya</span> and one <span class="iTxt">Nashsha</span>, and the <span class="iTxt">Owqiya</span> is of forty Dirhams and one <span class="iTxt">Nashsha</span> is one half the <span class="iTxt">Owqiya</span>, being of twenty Dirhams. So that was five hundred Dirhams’. I said, ‘By our weighing?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Yes’.
