ابْتَدَأَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) يَوْماً وَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) مَنْ مَاتَ وَ لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ إِمَامٌ فَمِيتَتُهُ مِيتَةُ جَاهِلِيَّةٍ فَقُلْتُ قَالَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) فَقَالَ إِي وَ اللَّهِ قَدْ قَالَ قُلْتُ فَكُلُّ مَنْ مَاتَ وَ لَيْسَ لَهُ إِمَامٌ فَمِيتَتُهُ مِيتَةُ جَاهِلِيَّةٍ قَالَ نَعَمْ .

الحسین بن محمد، معلیٰ بن محمد سے، حسن بن علی الوشاء سے، احمد بن عائذ سے، ابن اُذینہ سے، فضیل بن یسار سے، جنہوں نے کہا: ایک دن ابو عبداللہ علیہ السلام نے ہم سے آغاز فرمایا اور فرمایا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جو شخص اس حال میں مرے کہ اس پر کوئی امام نہ ہو، تو اس کی موت جاہلیت کی موت ہے۔ تو میں نے کہا: کیا رسول اللہ صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم نے یہ فرمایا تھا؟ انہوں نے کہا: ہاں، اللہ کی قسم، بے شک انہوں نے یہ فرمایا تھا۔ میں نے کہا: تو پھر ہر وہ شخص جو اس حال میں مرے کہ اس کے لیے کوئی امام نہ ہو، اس کی موت جاہلیت کی موت ہے؟ انہوں نے فرمایا: ہاں۔
Translation
Al Husayn Bin Muhammad, from Moalla Bin Muhammad, from Al Hassan Bin Ali Al Washa, from Ahmad Bin A’iz, from Ibn Azina, from Al Fuzayl Bin Yasar who said, ‘One day Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> initiated us saying: ‘Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup> said: ‘The one who dies and there isn’t an Imam<sup>asws</sup> over him, so his death would be a death of the ignorance (Pre-Islamic era)’. So I said, ‘Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup> said that?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Yes, by Allah<sup>azwj</sup>, he<sup>saww</sup> has said that?’ I said, ‘So everyone who dies and there isn’t an Imam<sup>asws</sup> for him, so his death would be the death of the ignorance (Pre-Islamic period)?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Yes’.
