محمد بن یحییٰ، محمد بن الحسین سے، صفوان سے، یعقوب بن شعیب سے، انہوں نے کہا: میں نے ابو عبداللہ علیہ السلام سے کہا: “جب امام علیہ السلام پر کوئی واقعہ پیش آئے تو لوگ کیا کریں؟” انہوں نے علیہ السلام فرمایا: “اللہ عزوجل کا قول کہاں ہے؟” “پھر کیوں نہ ہر گروہ میں سے ایک جماعت نکلے، تاکہ وہ دین میں سمجھ حاصل کریں اور جب وہ اپنی قوم کی طرف لوٹیں تو انہیں ڈرائیں، تاکہ وہ بچیں؟” انہوں نے علیہ السلام فرمایا: “جب تک وہ تلاش میں مشغول ہیں وہ معذور ہیں، اور جو لوگ ان کا انتظار کر رہے ہیں وہ بھی معذور ہیں یہاں تک کہ ان کے ساتھی ان کی طرف لوٹ آئیں۔”

Translation

Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Muhammad Bin Al Husayn, from Safwan, from Yaqoub Bin Shuayb who said, ‘I said to Abu Abdullah^asws, ‘When there occurs upon the Imam^asws an event (of death), how should the people deal with it?’ He^asws said: ‘Where (are they from) the Words of Allah^azwj Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:9#h122"><a href="/books/quran:9#h122">[9:122]</a></a> And it was not for the believers that they should go forth all together; why should not then a company from every party from among them go forth that they may apply themselves to obtain understanding in religion, and that they may warn their people when they come back to them that they may be cautious</span>?’ He^asws said: ‘They are in excuse (period) for as long as they are in the seeking, and those ones would be waiting in the excuse (period) until their companions return to them (having found out who the next Imam^asws is)?’
