سَمِعْتُ أَبَا حَنِيفَةَ يَسْأَلُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) عَنِ الْمُتْعَةِ فَقَالَ أَيَّ الْمُتْعَتَيْنِ تَسْأَلُ قَالَ سَأَلْتُكَ عَنْ مُتْعَةِ الْحَجِّ فَأَنْبِئْنِي عَنْ مُتْعَةِ النِّسَاءِ أَ حَقٌّ هِيَ فَقَالَ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ أَ مَا قَرَأْتَ كِتَابَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فَمَا اسْتَمْتَعْتُمْ بِهِ مِنْهُنَّ فَآتُوهُنَّ أُجُورَهُنَّ فَرِيضَةً فَقَالَ أَبُو حَنِيفَةَ وَ اللَّهِ فَكَأَنَّهَا آيَةٌ لَمْ أَقْرَأْهَا قَطُّ .
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Ali Bin Al Hassan Bin Rabaat, from Hareyz, from Abdul Rahman Bin Abu Abdullah who said, ‘I heard Abu Haneefa ask Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> about the <span class="iTxt">Mut’a</span>, so he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Which <span class="iTxt">Mut’a</span> are you asking about?’ He said, ‘I am asking you<sup>asws</sup> about the <span class="iTxt">Mut’a</span> of the Hajj, but inform me about the <span class="iTxt">Mut’a</span> of the women, is it Truth?’ So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Glory be to Allah<sup>azwj</sup>! Have you not read the Book of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:4#h24"><a href="/books/quran:4#h24">[4:24]</a></a> Then as to those whom you enjoy with, give them their dowries as appointed</span>?’ So Abu , ‘By Allah<sup>azwj</sup>! It is an Verse as if I have never recited it at all!’.
