سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ لا جُناحَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِيما تَراضَيْتُمْ بِهِ مِنْ بَعْدِ الْفَرِيضَةِ فَقَالَ مَا تَرَاضَوْا بِهِ مِنْ بَعْدِ النِّكَاحِ فَهُوَ جَائِزٌ وَ مَا كَانَ قَبْلَ النِّكَاحِ فَلَا يَجُوزُ إِلَّا بِرِضَاهَا وَ بِشَيْءٍ يُعْطِيهَا فَتَرْضَى بِهِ .
Translation
A number of our companions, form Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Ibn Mahboub, from Ibn Raib, from Muhammad Bin Muslim who said, ‘I asked Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> about the Words of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:4#h24"><a href="/books/quran:4#h24">[4:24]</a></a> and there is no blame on you about what you mutually agree </span>from after the marriage, so it is allowed, and whatever was from before the marriage, so it is not allowed except by her agreement, and by something being given to her, so she would be pleased with it’.
