قُلْتُ لِلرِّضَا ( عليه السلام ) قَدْ كُنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَهَبَ اللَّهُ لَكَ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) فَكُنْتَ تَقُولُ يَهَبُ اللَّهُ لِي غُلَاماً فَقَدْ وَهَبَ اللَّهُ لَكَ فَقَرَّ عُيُونُنَا فَلَا أَرَانَا اللَّهُ يَوْمَكَ فَإِنْ كَانَ كَوْنٌ فَإِلَى مَنْ فَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) وَ هُوَ قَائِمٌ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَقُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ هَذَا ابْنُ ثَلَاثِ سِنِينَ قَالَ وَ مَا يَضُرُّهُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ شَيْءٌ قَدْ قَامَ عِيسَى ( عليه السلام ) بِالْحُجَّةِ وَ هُوَ ابْنُ ثَلَاثِ سِنِينَ .

محمد بن یحیی، احمد بن محمد بن عیسی سے، صفوان بن یحیی سے، انہوں نے کہا: میں نے الرضا علیہ السلام سے کہا: ہم آپ سے اس سے پہلے پوچھا کرتے تھے کہ اللہ نے آپ کو ابو جعفر علیہ السلام عطا فرمائے، اور آپ فرمایا کرتے تھے: اللہ مجھے ایک لڑکا عطا فرمائے گا۔ اب اللہ نے واقعی آپ کو وہ عطا فرما دیا ہے، اور ہماری آنکھیں ٹھنڈی ہو گئی ہیں۔ اللہ ہمیں آپ کا دن نہ دکھائے؛ لیکن اگر کوئی واقعہ پیش آئے تو پھر کس کی طرف؟ تو انہوں نے اپنے ہاتھ سے ابو جعفر علیہ السلام کی طرف اشارہ کیا، جبکہ وہ ان کے سامنے کھڑے تھے۔ تو میں نے کہا: میں آپ پر قربان، یہ تین سال کا بچہ ہے؟ انہوں نے فرمایا: اس میں اس کے لیے کیا نقصان ہے؟ عیسیٰ علیہ السلام تین سال کے بچے کی حالت میں حجت کے ساتھ کھڑے ہوئے تھے۔
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Safwan Bin Yahya who said, ‘I said to Al-Reza<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>, ‘We had asked you<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> before Allah<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> Endowed Abu Ja’far<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> (9<sup style="font-weight: normal">th</sup> Imam<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>) to you<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>. So you<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> were saying: ‘Allah<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> will Endow a boy unto me<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>’. So Allah<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> has (now) Endowed him<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> to you<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> and our eyes are delighted. May Allah<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> not Show us your<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> day (of passing away). So if it does happen, to whom (should we look to)?’ So he<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> gestured by his<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> hand towards Abu Ja’far<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>, and he<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> was standing in front of him<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>’. So I said, ‘May I be sacrificed for you<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>! This is a boy of three years old?’ He<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> said: ‘And nothing affects him<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> from that. Isa<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> had stood with the Divine Authority and he<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> was a boy of three years old’.
