اَلصَّادِقُ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ لِعَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اَلْعَزِيزِ : «أَ لاَ أُخْبِرُكَ بِأَصْلِ اَلْإِسْلاَمِ وَ فَرْعِهِ وَ ذِرْوَتِهِ وَ سَنَامِهِ» قَالَ بَلَى قَالَ «أَصْلُهُ اَلصَّلاَةُ وَ فَرْعُهُ اَلزَّكَاةُ وَ ذِرْوَتُهُ وَ سَنَامُهُ اَلْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اَللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ أَ لاَ أُخْبِرُكَ بِأَبْوَابِ اَلْخَيْرِ اَلصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ مِنَ اَلنَّارِ ».

1775 - اَلصَّادِق علیہ السلام نے علی ابن عبدالعزیز سے فرمایا: کیا میں تمہیں اسلام کی بنیاد، اس کی شاخ، اس کی چوٹی اور اس کی بلندی کے بارے میں نہ بتاؤں؟ انہوں نے کہا: ہاں۔ انہوں نے فرمایا: "اس کی بنیاد صلات (نماز) ہے، اس کی شاخ زکات (صدقہ) ہے، اور اس کی چوٹی اور بلندی اللہ کے راستے میں جہاد ہے، جو عزت والا اور جلیل ہے۔ کیا میں تمہیں خیر کے دروازوں کے بارے میں نہ بتاؤں؟ صوم (روزہ) آگ سے بچاؤ کا ڈھال ہے۔"
Translation
Hadith.1775 - Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (as) said to Ali ibn Abdul Aziz: "Shall I not inform you about the foundation of Islam, its branch, its pinnacle, and its peak?" He said: "Yes." The Imam (as) said: "Its foundation is prayer, its branch is almsgiving, and its pinnacle and peak are striving in the way of Allah (swt), the Almighty. Shall I not inform you about the gateways to goodness? Fasting is a shield from the Fire."
