«نَعَمْ إِذَا لَمْ يَجِدِ اَلصَّرُورَةُ مَا يَحُجُّ بِهِ وَ إِنْ كَانَ لَهُ مَالٌ فَلَيْسَ لَهُ ذَلِكَ حَتَّى يَحُجَّ مِنْ مَالِهِ وَ هُوَ يُجْزِي عَنِ اَلْمَيِّتِ كَانَ لَهُ مَالٌ أَوْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ مَالٌ ».

سعید بن عبداللہ الاعرج نے ابو عبداللہ علیہ السلام سے صرورہ کے بارے میں پوچھا: کیا وہ مرنے والے کی طرف سے حج کر سکتا ہے؟ انہوں نے فرمایا: “ہاں، اگر صرورہ کے پاس وہ چیز نہ ہو جس سے وہ حج کر سکے۔ لیکن اگر اس کے پاس مال ہو تو وہ اس کا حق نہیں جب تک کہ وہ اپنے مال سے حج نہ کرے۔ اور یہ مرنے والے کی طرف سے کافی ہے چاہے اس کے پاس مال ہو یا نہ ہو۔”
Translation
Hadith.2872 - Sa'id ibn Abdullah al-A'raj asked Abu Abdullah (as) about a person who has not performed Hajj (a ṣarūra): "Can they perform Hajj on behalf of a deceased person?" Imam (as) said: "Yes, if the ṣarūra does not have the means to perform Hajj for themselves. However, if they have wealth, they cannot do so until they perform Hajj for themselves from their own wealth. Performing Hajj on behalf of the deceased is valid whether the deceased had wealth or not."
